Energy Prices Rising by 10% Should We Have More Solar Farms and Wind Turbines?

Seeing the news the other night with energy prizes rising in October by 10% .Should we move more faster away from the current way of getting our energy or are we unhappy with being ripped off with our energy prices but equally don't want the alternatives . If that is the case what would people like to have done ?
we should have been investing in other energy sources for years. Its not as if we are short of wind power - and even solar power works well in this country.
I would happily have solar panels on my roof, but they cost so much to install. Happy for there to be more solar farms or wind turbines. I resent how much we have to pay for energy. I try to use as little as possible. As long as the alternatives work I don't have a problem with them.
From what i have been reading lately S nuclear power stations seem to be the way to go

I guess we should but would probably be at the expense of housing and if we try to do both they will probably be in our back yards.
You hit the nail on the head, everyone is tired of being ripped off but also don’t want the negatives of the alternatives.
For me personally i quite like the look of wind farms and wouldn’t be bothered if there was one in the field opposite my house, but when they talked about building one a lot of people were not happy so it didn’t get done.
SilverSurfer I did have the thought today . Before you use any gas or electric your paying over £400 a year in this standing charge . I had the thought £100-£150 of it could be used to soften the blow of the people losing the winter fuel allowance and not being eligable for pension credit .

SilverSurfer Yes if you are encouraging people to be energy efficient and use less energy then there should be no standing charge. However the poor who use very little energy will pay significantly less and middle class homes will pay a lot more which are typically the type of people in power politically so its not going to happen so its unlikely they will scrap the standing charge as every home has some costs for providing energy and even though it would be much better for the environment they are not going to let the middle class subsidise the energy costs of poorer people who may try to use extremely low levels of energy to save money which may not be enough to pay for connection costs.
