Equal Pay for Men & Women's Sports

Ask a Question

Should male and female sports stars receive equal pay?

The England and Wales Cricket Board is taking a step towards equality by ensuring that men's and women's minimum starting salaries will be the same starting in 2025.

Is this the right move for sports? 👇

Leannexxx not just those 2, rugby league, rugby union to name a few some women are paid very well in boxing , in some cases more than men, the Welsh and English cricket boards are run by the woke brigade, they are running the time into a financial crisis for most clubs, this will not help, it could lead to some clubs no longer been able to have a women's team

martinlufc5637 Womens boxing repulses me M, i tried watching it but i cannot, seeing a womans face being pulverised , face protection or not, its bad enough being two men in the ring , its sort of accepted, but i will never willingly watch two women knocking 10 shades out of each other as entertainment , equality has come a long way but i think it overstepped the mark here

telmel I liked boxing but it's the most corrupt sport on the planet, after seeing the controversy over womens olympic boxing, not knowing if they are men or women, it puts me off

No, simply because women's sports just aren't as big/popular as male sports so it makes no sense for them to be paid the same.

To be short and sweet, no. If the women generate more money in that sport then fair enough but until that happens then no

Ideally i think they should be paid the same but that’s not really feasible given the fact that most female sports don’t generate anywhere near the money that the male version does.

I remember a few male tennis players raising the point that it’s unfair that men and women get paid the same at grand slams when it’s the male players generating more of the income.

Unfortunately women's sport doesn't being in as much money as male sports, so the male sports would be the ones funding this pay increase as they aren't going to lower the salaries. When women's sports bring in as much or more than men's sports then yes. It is purely about profits.

In fashion female models are often paid more because they generate more income for brands etc. You get female super models but I don't think you get the same for men. Super models earn huge money. I've never felt this is unfair because its simple commerce. There are some roles that should be equal pay but others that should not because the income generated is different between genders. I'm not the greatest fan of sport myself and don't follow league football but I often feel access to football is excessively priced for fans and they are exploited. It would be good to bring prices down and pay players less but its not going to happen.

From personal experience I have found that women are far more bright than men so I think ladies should get more than men.

If not then definitely equal pay to be fair

Paulyousef28 Word salad.

Just get to the point and answer yes or no based on which has a higher audience and is more profitable.

The answer is... No.

If women's sports ever get the same audience and profitability, yes, but currently... Nope.

Yes it should be equal. It's ridiculous that it's not. We are in 2024 not 1724. We should have moved on by now

Jerseydrew Why should it be equal when women's sports get nowhere near as much audience nor profitability as men's sports? Equality alone isn't enough, it's a business, not a charity.

If women's sports had the same amount of audience and $, then I would agree, but it simply doesn't.

Most definitely should be the case. Everyone deserves equal pay. Just because someone is a man they shouldn't get more pay then someone who's a woman

Women don't generate a fraction of the income that men do, so why should they have equal pay? It's a non argument.

The answer is no. Women should not get bailed out by the men's games just because they are women, why should they? Bring in your money for your own sport and get paid accordingly. People should not be subsidised on the basis of their sex

TheChimp and women's sports is where it because society pays more attention to the men's sports. The media chooses to show the mens football over the woman's because they get the figures because that's media is geared to. We as a whole need to focus on both genders equally. Not just in sports but all walks of life. I work with kids. Men are an important part of a child's life but men do not want to work jn early years (under 5) because they are worried of being accused of being something they are not. We've more working in primary schools but as many as needed as we've kids that do not have a positive male role model. More work in secondary schools. This isn't ok as we are failing men and children

Jerseydrew That's how the media works. Why would they pay the same for the rights to show the women's game as the men's? Much more income is generated by the men through advertising as the audience capture is so much higher. The more income generated, the more paid for the rights. The more paid for the rights, the more the players should get paid. It's common sense, surely, that's how things work.

And most elite men's sport is shown behind the pay wall, so people have the option whether to subscribe or not. More subscriptions, more money for the TV company and this will flow back into the men's pay.

Women's sports are shown a lot on the BBC and the ratings are shocking, no-one wants to watch it. I really begrudge them using my license fee towards it.

TheChimp Exactly.

I hate to bring up the following comparison as it's quite degenerate, but it's straight to the point:

Which **** videos get watched a lot on the Internet, male or female? The answer is the latter. Straight guys watch them (who fall for that wickedness) and gay women do, too.

Anyway, this chick on YouTube gets a lot of views and it's not because for her quality content... Let's be honest, she is attractive. That's it.

She uses copyright material and there was one time she revealed the home address of another YouTuber. If it was a guy his YT account would be terminated.
