Have You Ever Won a Prize You Didn't Receive?
Ask a Question
I guess it would spoil the win if you had to nudge them to send it. It happened to me once. Part of a prize was a subscription to a kids magazine, but to be honest I wasnt fussed so never tried to claim it.
It has happened to me a few times. Generally if I have chased the prize then I have eventually received it. As you say it does spoil the winning feeling if you have to send several emails and wait months before you get your win.
seasider71 I know it's silly but it makes me feel quite bad having to ask for something I have won.
Yes, plenty of times years ago when the newspapers and magazines had only postal competition. When I complained about not receiving my prizes the newspapers and magazines told me to contact the competitions directly. They were only the third party.
blacklabrador it seems everything has gone to pot since the 'end of' covid. This is the longest I have gone without winning something, no matter how small.
Lynibis At least I can take comfort in the fact I'm not the only one going through a dry patch.
Lynibis I imagine during the lockdowns when everybody was at home, more people took up comping as a hobby and have stuck with it ever since. This unfortunately makes it harder to win. I hardly ever win anything nowadays, but before covid I was winning on average around 2 prizes a month.
I've won some smaller prizes that I didn't receive, such as a Blu-ray copy of Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. I would chase more expensive or unique items.
Over the many years I have been comping I have only been let down 4 times, 3 of which were books I always chase the item concerned. Several years ago I once chased an item for about three months and it finally arrived with the post on the day we were moving house!
tumblespots they must have caved in at your tenacity lol! I guess I have had to chase an item twice so not too bad. The one I mention in topic I couldn't be bothered as I had no one who would benefit from it.
tumblespots yes it's the small fairy garden, the big one is at the end. Not a good photo, will probably change it soon!
tumblespots Haven't a clue, maybe chocolate again lol, my favourite naughty but nice!
Lynibis I went to the bakery this morning and actually resisted buying the cream cakes...again - yes really.
I've been lucky and only ever had to chase up one competition. I contacted the company supplying the prize and it arrived 2 days later. I haven't won anything for a long time now, at least 6 months.
I won a prize recently on youtube and still not received it but its only been about a week or so and probably coming from China although the channel is UK based. I don't win much. Last win was a Kindle on hotukdeals a few years ago before this win. I probably win something roughly once a decade I would say overall but then I don't enter that many competitions and I'm rubbish at tie breakers.
Oh wow, lt would definitely put a damper on my joy if l won a prize and had to chase the sponsor for it, luckily that has never happened in any of the competitions l have entered
Won a free nail set of my choice in a local group fun day and every time I went to claim it she said she was full then phoned again the day b4 voucher run out and she couldn't fit me in felt robbed as I payed for the raffle tickets
At the beginning of the year I won a IG competition (lots of prizes on offer) for a pancake pan and jar of Nutella through Nutella. I haven’t ever received anything and was duly ignored multiple times when I messaged the account replying to my address request. Not bothered about the pan but GUTTED about the Nutella.
I won a bedroom armchair from a Facebook competition. The chair pictured in the post was the actual one that the winner would receive. They kept giving me different delivery dates, which they were also doing to their customers. A page was set up for everyone who had been scammed by the company including my sister who purchased 8 dining chairs after I had shared the comp post.
The whole company turned out to be a scam. Nobody received anything from them, luckily my sister got her money back by doing a chargeback.
Yes. A nice man from Nigeria once informed me by email that I had inherited $5 million from his god fearing but deceased aunt . I was over the moon and immediately sent my bank details, as requested, so they could pay me. I just can't understand why the money didn't arrive .
Quite a few things I've won I didn't receive. It's really annoying to say the least. More recently was a football training set from McDonald's tried contacting them but was just asked what date I received the email saying I'd won. I'd tell them then would email me the same question again this went on for awhile until I gave up. Then there were some books I found out I'd won on the website. There had been sent out but I didn't receive them. Managed to contact them and get a replacement set. Then there was a moisturising cream contacted the magazine I won it from and ignored my email so contacted the manufacturer who sent me some. I know there's many many more things I'm winning that I'm not getting as most companies just send your prize out without informing you even though you provide them with a email address sometimes even a phone number and unfortunately I live in a area with lots of streets so confusing and have lots of different people delivering the post that don't know the area. I don't have really nice neighbor's, far from it so will keep anything belonging to me.
