Fined for Not Finishing at All You Can Eat?

Ask a Question

Should you be fined for not finishing your plate at an all-you-can-eat buffet?

A Cornish pub has drawn criticism for imposing a £4.80 fine on two customers for leaving behind "excessive" carvery food. The policy aims to reduce waste and protect profits. Is this a fair measure, or does it go too far? 👇

They do it at a Chinese near us. You can order as much as you want, but if you leave more than 3/4 of a dish, they'll charge you for it

I don't see the problem tbh

I don't see a problem is all you can eat as greed takes over but it shouldn't happen if your paying for a meal

Sometimes the food served isn’t to your taste so you leave it. If there’s an option to go back for more I expect people would take a small portion just to make sure they like it first.

Daft idea . Food waste may be an issue but an issue of their own making if they are that bothered they should just serve plated meals. What gives them the right to fine anyone?

I’ve seen this policy in a lot of all you can eat restaurants but it doesn’t seem to be enforced often. I don’t think it’s a bad thing as long as people are fined only when they are really taking the p.
