Should Fireworks Be Replaced with Lasers?
Ask a Question
Should we replace fireworks with lasers and drones?
Many people would prefer quieter, high-tech displays over traditional, noisy ones. Is it time for a change, or do we still love the classic fireworks experience?
I would like a ban on shops selling fireworks. Unfortunately teenagers buy them and unfortunately often causing harm.
I grew up with fireworks so am kinda used to them but they do terrify animals and are subject to misuse so I kinda understand why people want to swap to lasers.
They should only ban those that make loud bangs, I like fireworks and so do kids but those that bang are not necessary
No they shouldn't but I don't think there is any need for the noise from them we will get some this year but very low noise
Don't think Fireworks have the appeal they did, maybe restrict them to organised shows only , or indeed laser shows which can be quite spectacular if done right.
It's unlikely fireworks will disappear anytime soon. Although, at large events, such as New Year's Eve shows, intricate drone displays may become the focus. As they offer greater control and a much wider array of sculptural forms, such as animals or text.
Maybe, as I’ve seen loads of light shows that are captivating. But the sounds and smells can’t be replaced - but it’s a sacrifice that can be made for everyone’s safety
You can't beat the old fireworks display BUT fireworks are dangerous in the wrong hands& should be restricted to public displays only..
These events shouldn't cost an arm & a leg to attend but should be subsided...
People & animals suffer every year when their lives are disturbed by the really loud fireworks.
My little black cat Phoenix is absolutely terrified by the loud noises...
Phoenix 's sister Topaz will sit in our window watching the fireworks, she's not bothered by them....
I do enjoy a firework display personally but do feel they as the years have gone by I think they’ve lost their appeal somewhat and not like they used to be
I am not a fan of fireworks and think they are a waste of money. I have seen drone displays with lights and these are fantastic.
I think it’s a fantastic idea. I don’t think people should be allowed to buy fireworks. Every day for the month of October they are going off near me and it drives me batty
PayItForward ....Try living where we live when there is an Asian Wedding going on , fireworks around midnight, cars racing around the roundabout at the centre of our area..
Most definitely they should be replaced. Lots of humans and animals that are terrified of fireworks. It's horrible to see a person or animal terrified
I would definitely prefer it. They look nice but never really a fan especially as often I work bonfire night near a local display and it's scary trying to drive home the longer way slowly. Normally a 10-15 minute drive takes well over an hour and with big bangs near car I'm a bag of nerves most the way
Imnotcheap ...Where we live the buses get targeted by MINDLESS EEEEEEEEJITS throwing fireworks at each other across a main road!!
Last year on the main road at the bottom of our estate my partner was going home from a long shift & a firework nearly hit our car!
janphoenix51 luckily that doesn't happen where I live. I'll never understand people like that
It would be nice if there was no noise - just the colours and patterns. But they are so dangerous and as fireworks aren’t a year long saleable item i find that shopkeepers aren’t as strict about checking properly for age.
Fireworks should be banned but won't be as generate too much money for the government. There too dangerous now. There more like what was display fireworks. Not suitable for built up areas. I have someone near me who's been letting fireworks of nearly ever night since August. I'm not sure why I don't know if he's making his own fireworks and testing them before selling them. There shake the house. Laser displays are really good I'd much prefer these.
No one mentions the damage to the environment. Imagine how many nasty chemicals are used in the manufacture of fireworks. If we're going green with cars what % of the damage caused is from fireworks
I still don't know how fireworks are allowed. People can litterally use these to make bombs.
I don't know why , they need the big bang. Scary for animals, baby's who don't understand. Also they should be professional displays only , as they are so dangerous and so many people get injured
We took our kids to a drone light show once and that was really good, so that could possibly be an alternative.
Fireworks frighten pets and wildlife. They cause noise and air pollution and it’s literally money going up in smoke. They should be banned completely.
Fireworks season will start soon. Not looking forward to it.
My neighbourhood starts on Diwali and constantly has fireworks until well past new year.
Definitely BAN them for everyone!
WHY are people celebrating a Failure to blow up the corrupt parliament anyway?
Quieter displays would be beneficial to family pets, wildlife, the elderly, people with anxieties or ptsd Or dementia etc.
Pets and wildlife are disturbed by the constant loud banging sounds from fireworks that are not confined to one day of the year so I am for a ban on anything other than organised displays.
If fireworks were made to make less noise then I wouldn't hope for a ban.
Fireworks should only be sold to councils and should only be set off Between 7pm and 9pm on bonfire night and New Years. That’s it.
