What Was the First Big Thing You Purchased with Your Own Money?
Ask a Question
I remember using some of my pocket money I saved up as a kid to buy Xmas presents for my family in Woolworths - I probably only spent £12 on tat, but as I was only 6 or 7 years old, it was a big thing for me back then
Many years ago at 16 I started work just before Christmas. With my first week's pay I gave my mum my keep and then spent the rest on the 'Simon' game for my two younger brothers for Christmas. I still remember how amazing it felt to be able to and their faces when they opened it.
Aw how sweet It is definitely one of those moments when you know that giving is more important than receiving thanks for sharing your story
We were very poor when I was a kid and I hardly had any clothes, let alone fashionable ones. So my first wage packet, after paying half in keep, went on new clothes so I did not feel like Cinderella in the office!
I spent it on myself I loved music (still do) and my first bit of pocket money went on buying 2 Frankie Goes to Hollywood 7 inch records. We were on holiday at the time. I think my parents were hoping I'd buy seaside souvenirs
I started working so I could save for when I started uni. It was coming up to Christmas and I was in town with my mum, she saw a lovely bracelet that she wanted and said to me if your dad asks what I want drop some hints to this. So I went back a few days later with friends and I bought her the bracelet (dad got her earrings and a necklace to match). She absolutely loved it and was so touched, she had tears in her eyes. She still has it and wears it on special occasions. I got my dad a voucher for his favourite golf shop which paid for half of a new golf club.
