What Are Your First Childhood Memories?

Ask a Question

Looking back at my childhood memories I have memories from quite early on. My first memory was swinging in my bouncing chair which my parents hung above the door for me so they could keep an eye whilst they did chores - this was when I was under 2 years old.

I’d love to compare and know your earliest memory or your child’s earliest memory?

My memory is absolutely awful so a lot of my memories come from looking at old photographs. We did have a very big garden when I was child and i do have happy memories playing in that.

I was 4 on a holiday I wanted to go on dodgem cars, one hit my ankle so I went to hospital and an old woman showed me and my mum her ankle which was green. I was impressed, obviously I was too young to realise how bad the poor lady was

Going to Disneyland Paris when I was 4. I remember meeting Mikey Mouse, having breakfast with all the characters, going to see the shows.

I have patchy memories of when I was younger than 3, mainly of my younger brother and some dreams, but I know I fully came into consciousness at 3 as I was walking to my friends house with my mum

Mine was aged about 3ish in a courtroom with a horrible scarey man coming right up to my face and in a plummey loud voice saying 'who do you want to live with little girl, your mummy or your daddy?'

As I hadn't seen my mum from 9 months old and dad was holding me my tearful response was obvious.

Asthma attack and a friend getting killed crossing a road. Mostly do not remember childhood, I guess I have suppressed the pain.

I have a lot of bad memories. But good memories are when I use to play on the roundabout at the local park. I'd buy kinder eggs on the way there. Then put them together while sat on the roundabout. I really liked the little toys use to come in loads of tiny pieces that was a real challenge to put together. I remember walking home feeling quite sick because I'd eaten too much chocolate!

It is one of my oldest memories but not sure if it is the earliest. I remember walking into Weymouth from the caravan site we were staying at and going to a shop and getting a Casper comic bought for me. I loved that comic and had it for years so it became a very strong memory.
