How to Stop Flies from Entering the House?
Ask a Question
With the beautiful warmer westher we've been having, the windows are being opened again, but this year I seem to be struggling with flies coming in and spending hours circling my lights (why do they do that?!!). Has anyone else notice this more this year and more to the point how do I deter them coming in? I can't put fly screens up.
You can always try Lavender. Flies dont like that, or Citronella Oil. You can pour some oil In a burner with a tea light. Both of these Flies dont like. I am not sure why they circle around lights.
Last year we put fly paper up near lights. I got it for my green house but worked well in house too
I read this somewhere. A clear plastic bag half filled with water with a few 1p coins in it. Hang this on your windows/doors and you won't see a fly in your house.
Sugarbabe I've not heard of that before, I will have to give it a go, I hate having flies in the house.
You could give something like this a go as flies hate the smell of essential oils like lemon grass, peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus – put a few drops in a spray bottle and use around the house daily.
It's annoying isn't it. We get them every year. Not chucking spiders out as they eat them.
The only way to keep flies out of the house is to install fly screens. The electric buzzer don't work and the sticky things are disgusting
I'm not sure but I've noticed there's alot more than normal. Lots of the little black flies really annoying.
