Flower Arranging

Ask a Question

I recently went to a flower arranging demonstration and really want to start doing it (not professionally, just for gifts etc). I went online to get some oasis, and it is so expensive!

Does anyone have any links of where I could get some at a reasonable price??

PayItForward alternatives could be chicken wire, marbles, sand, plastic grids, or moss rings

and scrunched newspaper for wreaths. Temu have oasis bricks £1.17 or 8 polyresin cylinders 8 x 4cm for £2.74 alternatively hand tie and put in vase/container.

lilyflower thank you for all of these tips. Certainly good for thought. I just hadn’t a clue where to start as I’ve never done anything like this before lol

PayItForward Do you plan to use fresh or artificial flowers etc because it's different oasis. It used to be my hobby, if you want any tips I'll try and help 🙂

lilyflower I want to use fresh flowers. I seen these little oasis that can be tied onto wine bottles. My idea was to do little fresh flowers on a bottle of wine as a Christmas gift

PayItForward If you can keep all the stems together wrap in wet cotton wool or paper towel then cling film and they'll stay fresh for a few days. An alternative would be mini plastic wind bottles that you could make holes in near the top for arrangement and tape to actual wine bottle. Have you considered using stem test tubes covered in Christmas paper. They would be easy to tie onto the wine bottle. Amazon sell 20 for £5.99.

Yes, you can put several stems in and wrap the container in foil or paper.

SaveMeSunday it was just a lady demonstrating different flower arrangements - we didn’t actually make anything ourselves. But I left really wanting to make something lol. It was fabulous. I really enjoyed it
