Is Football Coming Home?

Ask a Question

I am a huge football by any means but I have been watching the Euros for the last couple of weeks. Do you think we have a chance a winning?

From what I can remember Spain have won all of their games so far. It is certainly possible for them to win but they will have to bring their A game.

In early stages I would have said no.

Last night was very different I believe we can do it. No more years of hurt. After getting told to keep the noise down from my son who was trying to sleep wondering if I should let them watch on Sunday. My kids are 8,9 and 20 Image

Imnotcheap unfortunately it didn’t come home. I’m not much of a football fan but after the second goal thought we may have had a chance.

Can't see it personally. Spain have been the team of the tournament and gonna take something special to beat them imo. Fingers crossed though

Spain have been the best team in the tournament so it’s going to be a tough game. If we play at a high level we can win it.

I'm Welsh, so I hope that the Spanish beat England, otherwise we won't hear the end of it for the next 40 years

England are still dining out on the 1966 World Cup win.

But if England play like they did in the 1st half against Holland, they'll have a good chance

TheChimp Do you know the difference between Wales and a tea bag?

Tea bag stays longer in the cup 🙂

SebK84 Yes,but England would have 60 million tea bags compared to the Welsh 2 million.

That's a lot of more English cups of tea to go around.

TheChimp Oh, I hope Wales will do better in 2 years time during World Cup. Remember tea bag should only stay in the cup for 2-5 minutes. It's not that long really

Come on England 🏆 😀

SebK84 England are up against a decent team in the final, so don't expect too much. The bookies don't think that England will score.

It's nice to have dreams though

SebK84 I think Wales have done much better than Scotland in the Euros despite being a smaller country. I think they got to the semi-finals where as Scotland have never left the group stage. Perhaps I have remembered wrongly though. Wales definitely have slightly better weather overall than Scotland though which does seem to be a factor in sporting success with many countries with warmer weather punching above their weight for their population size as outdoor sports typically are a more common activity with more active sporting people to choose from with regard competitive sports.

TheChimp Got your wish. I didn’t think we would win. Always seem to get so close. I’m wondering about all the real fans getting up for work this morning, could be a few sick notes.

Morning eyeballkerry All us Celts are waking up very smug today.

I made a few quid on the result, so I'm going to buy MrsChimp something.

Never mind for the English this time, we'll hear them spouting the same old sh*t in 2 years time for the World Cup.

It's coming home? 🤣🤣🤣

Spain are favourites to win but we still have a good chance of winning but realistically Spain are more likely to win. I'd say its about a 60% probability of Spain winning. However when I watched their match against France there were times where they didn't seem that great so you never know. It was also great to see Ollie Watkins who is from the south west (Devon) score that important goal. We don't typically produce many great footballers down in this region as we have a low population density and many of the great players come from the big cities so pleased to see him do so well.

Drivers have been warned about flags and emblems during the Euros as unsafe attachments could land them with a hefty fine in the UK. Flying an England flag for the Euros could get you a £2,500 fine

xKJG93 Blimey! Are you Mystic Meg? These over-paid multi-millionaires' footballers don't give a hoot what any-one thinks of them. It's Gareth Southgate I feel sorry for. He WILL lose his job if England doesn't win. He is the only one under pressure for England to win.

jam45 He currently earns £5 Million a year, and will walk into another highly paid managerial job if he loses the England Gig.

So I don't particularly feel sorry for him.

I hope he stays on as England Manager though, whatever happens tomorrow.

stevea808 We're only a little country though, so we don't expect much. It's the expectation of the English that annoys the hell out of the Celts and everyone

England only played one decent team in the Euros and that was Spain and they lost.

Never mind, onto the World Cup qualifiers and we'll see how Wales do.

Gromit22 I think most of us realised that. Spain have been brilliant and we only scraped through one of our matches. Probably the real final dare I say it was Spain vs Germany or Spain vs France. However we have got to the final twice in succession. We have done brilliantly just not quite good enough to take the title.

Next year there's the FIFA World Cup.
