The Reality of Global Warming: Freak Ice Storm In Milan
In the News
When i read these articles i immediately thought back to when i watched the 2004 sci fi film The Day After Tomorrow
Ok some parts of the film were exaggerated, but they predicted then some of the extreme weather we are now experiencing
The ice flowing through the streets on the video is unbelievable after the extreme heat everyone has been experiencing recently
And the size of the hailstones , bigger than your fist, actually injured 110 people
I have posted three seperate links to articles and video showing this and the tornado that brought it
The scientists have been warning of this for many years now , but some countries chose to ignore and carry on contributing to global warming, the catalyst behind all the extreme weather

I don't remember seeing news like this in the past about extreme weather but maybe I have selective memory. I really don't fancy the weather they are getting over there. I mean at the moment its fairly cold and wet here not much summer at all, its almost like Italy has stolen our Summer and added it to their own causing these ridiculous temperatures and fires. The big issue in the future is food production as many areas will no longer be capable of reliably producing crops. That's why the UK needs to be self-sufficient in food production which has been made much more difficult with the huge rise in population.
I'm not seeing sensible policies from governments to reduce global warming at all. In fact many things have happened that make it much worse like the popularity of SUV's, shorter lifespans of many goods with many more products that are not economic to repair. The rise of online shopping where people can't really see the quality of products they are buying and there is much more waste.
I think maybe 50 years ago we were much more environmentally friendly.
BonzoBanana With technology you would think things would improve B, but just the opposite is happening
telmel they are being very selective with the technology they have to promote the message that you have fallen for. Temperature guages are far cheaper than they used to be yet fewer are used nowadays that used to be. In addition many used to produce the scare stories are placed in built up areas or by airports where they can capture the added warming caused by jet engines. Wake up and look a little wider han you currently do.
Maybe those in Milan will enjoy a break from the heat. It's awful what us humans have done to the world
I'm reading in and around the Global warming theories .The evidence isn't as strong as some might think.May even be to the reverse!
MelissaLee1 Very technical, M but if the theories are correct then we have some hope left
MelissaLee1 There are so many conflicting theories and of course there are mechanisms in nature which both increase and decrease temperatures. We are technically still in an ice age although at the end of it with just the poles in ice. So it is completely expected for water levels to rise and there to be less land available in the coming decades. You could once walk from the UK to the Netherlands only thousands of years ago. I personally think the body of evidence for global warming is extremely strong with the vast majority of scientists supporting it. However it certainly wouldn't be impossible for them to be wrong. The human population is at ridiculous levels and we have pumped so many chemicals in the air and environment which wouldn't naturally happen.
The human race is so destructive and greedy, sadly I think we will cause our own extinction. (I would really like to be wrong though!)
Midnightflower You are so right M
If we do manage to survive long enough to find another planet suitable to live on in the distant future i hope mankind learns a lesson and treats the next one with greater respect
telmel it's scary how fast things are changing. I remember talking to my dad a few years ago and him saying he thought his generation would be the lucky ones, as they would not see the extreme progression of climate change, but I think he will.
Midnightflower We have been warned so often about it over the years M, a lot of countries have done a little too late, but some countries completely ignored it and carried on polluting the world , and still are !!
telmel I think alot of people thought they wouldn't see it in their lifetime so haven't taken it as seriously as young people. The only way to solve the issue now would be a united world trying to stop it but I dont think the human race can move past greed.
telmel Getting to another planet on another star system is incredibly difficult almost to the level of impossible. I think if the sun was the size of a tennis ball or football (can't remember which it is) the next nearest star would be the distance of China from the UK on that scale. Certainly people that live on earth won't be getting there. It will be embryos that are transported to grow up on another star system. Probably with robots doing the main work. There is still no viable way to freeze human bodies and restore them to life afterwards after 100s of years and perhaps never will be. The earth is fully capable of being restored to a good environment but it needs far less people and those that are here need to live different lives. People are incredibly selfish and always look for others to change rather than themselves.
BonzoBanana Funnily enough i was thinking about it this morning B , how to transport billions of people to another inhabitable planet, impossible , but as you say embryos would be an option , depending on how many, you would need a spaceship full of nannies to look after them though
telmel Those nannies will have to be robots and you would need robots to build stuff needed like houses as the babies grow. I guess a bit like that the series 'Raised by Wolves' which is definitely worth a watch.
Natural weather or modified? That's what's not known. And they admit to do it in order to "fight climate change"
Fight.. climate change? The weather is always changing, that's why there are different seasons.
The planet may survive but we might not. I think most people are aware about climate change. The thing is we are also in cost of living crisis. I’m afraid they have to make green options more affordable if anything is to change. I think unlikely. Affordable housing isn’t really affordable for most people. I would be willing to change my car as it’s old for lower emissions- but I can’t afford to. Also public transport is not exactly reliable right now either.
