Have you had an increase in the cost of your Garden Bin Collection?
Cheshire West and Chester have out it up from £40 to £50 this year which is a 25% increase!
Someone posted on our local community Facebook group it now costs £95, so £50 is a bargain! It's no wonder there is so much fly tipping around here.
snoogans888 a 25% increase is a big increase though. Is that £95 for a fortnightly garden waste collection only? Ours goes out every 2 weeks Feb- December.
SamGoodship yes 25% is a big increase. It used to be £86 here but it’s going up to £95 in April. It’s a fortnightly collection for 12 months. We’ve never used it but a few of our neighbours do. I’m sure they won’t be resubscribing though now.
I suppose things have gone up so it’s logical that there would be an increase in price.
SamGoodship yes unfortunately and like most others I am annoyed but it wasn’t unexpected. I just think they’re putting it up more than they need to
You can get an incinerator bin for around £25 or less and burn your garden waste, you may say that is environmentally unfriendly but all the fuel used to transport your garden waste and emissions of diesel engines isn't environmentally friendly either. Also what do they do at the end of it, possibly burn it anyway. Also if you incinerate your garden waste and use the ash as a fertiliser so you can grow more of your own food and reduce the transportation of food especially food that comes from abroad. So personally I think incinerated garden waste is the best environmental option especially if you grow more plants which take up that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Also if you are working in the garden on a cold day it gives you a nice heat source to go to to warm your hands.
SamGoodship Where are you based? I've not heard of this before is it your own property or rented or a rule for the local area?
Jackscot That will mean its included in your council tax then. They found most people here didn't use their garden bin so took it out of that cost and got people to pay separately instead.
Our garden waste bin is £49 for this coming year, it's the only bin that we have to pay for.
Our bins cost £60 a year, it’s crazy but we need it due to the garden size. So much grass lol.
Garden waste as in grass cuttings, leaves ect...??? Our garden waste collection is free, same as normal bin collection,they collect every 2 weeks
martinlufc5637 yes that’s what I was going to say. Put it in brown bin, put it out every 2 weeks and it’s emptied plus we don’t have council tax so not added onto that either
