Gifts That May Be Welcome for Older People

Speaking as an oldie myself I do always appreciate any gift I get from friends and relatives and love to receive perfumes and skincare as I would not buy those for myself. But I do get a surfeit of these and can't use them up too quickly.
My favourite type of gift would be a voucher for the larger supermarkets that do clothes, food, treats etc and would save me money.
I also like gift vouchers for Amazon as there is always something I would like for my fairy garden and I also have my eye on a new kindle I am saving for.
For those who don't like giving cash or vouchers lots of elderly folk would probably love a hamper that could also save them money, filled with themed gifts like tea, coffee, hot Chocolate and wine. Those who don't use email would probably appreciate a stationery set WITH some stamps as they are now so expensive. What else would you like to receive or give to an older person?
An annual subscription to favourite magazine or newspaper. Flowers, pasties, cream tea, veggie box by post. I'd be happy with a supermarket voucher.
lilyflower I love the magazine idea. 2 Christmases ago my granddaughter got me a history mag subscription as she knows how passionate I am about history. This year she got me an experience day for two for Blenheim palace with a two course meal, I am going with my sister at end of May.
A heated blanket, voucher for taking them out for a meal when they choose?
I’m glad of these suggestions with a 78yr old mum and 86yr old dad who don’t need anything and being 1 of 6 we all struggle with what to give them. Never thought of supermarket vouchers or Amazon vouchers which I do know they’d get great use out of or making up personal hamper for them. A heated blanket for my mum would be great idea on days when she’s feeling very sore and tired and falls asleep in her chair
chele44 I know it sounds weird but at their ages I would be grateful for a medical type hamper with stuff like deep heat, painkillers, knee supports, vitamin tablets, thermal socks etc as they are all expensive to buy for pensioners. There can always be a couple of treats added 'for medicinal purposes'

SaveMeSunday anything nice that saves them money (which can then go toward food and heating) I am sure would be gratefully received. If knitting is their thing a knitting box with a selection of patterns, needles, buttons and wool would be different. Or a baking ingredients hamper if they like baking, as again ingredients are so expensive these days, especially stuff like glace cherries and ground almonds.
I only buy for 3 older people. We normally get Granny the sherry she likes and an M&S voucher, that way she can either use it for food or new clothes. I get my mum her favourite whisky and a cinema voucher. For my dad I get a voucher for his favourite golf shop.
I get my mum things you suggested such as stationery items and I also make a hamper of biscuits and chocolates I know she likes. But then sometimes I get a Tesco order delivered to her. Saves her having to buy and carry shopping.
I appreciate being given a flowering plant, maybe anthurium or orchids. They last for months instead of a bouquet only 2 weeks.
You can't go wrong with a cactus , they are like camels and don't need hardly any water

I would not be classed as an older folk but these are the sort of gifts I love or even gifts for my animals, but sadly a lot in shops aren't safe, so could end up with dangerous stuff for them and the person doesn't realise. Sadly people say that these aren't gifts for myself to enjoy. But I'd much rather have things that I could use that I would usually need or even somethings that I like the look of but maybe wouldn't necessarily buy for myself like the fancy coloured pasta. I mean I have no need for it, it's just coloured pasta, I'd save money by just getting the cheaper bigger bags, but would make a nice little gift. I would actually love it is someone were to buy me toilet roll, nothing fancy, Who gives a cr*p or cheeky panda ones look good, eco and not too thick but also not easily split. I don't think people would somehow allow themselves to get my toilet roll for a special occasion though
My parent's have gifted me duvet cover, sheets and squash before and wrapped it up though. Highly useful gifts!!

Cash is something everyone doesn't mind (unless it's fake or with very little value).
I do my mum a calendar for Xmas. She loves it as its photos taken during the year
It is. Means we have to take photos. It also gets us to do nice family things so we've photos to choose from
I've been buying my elderly parents gift vouchers for Afternoon Teas, meals out etc. They have loved going out and spending quality time with each other
