Gmb Warn Not to Use Phones While Out

In the News

Because of the amount of phones being stolen there's a warning on gmb saying we shouldn't have phones on view or use them in public places. Apparently stolen phones is at its highest level ever.

Do you feel safe in your area

Been watching it on +1 but they have discussed this several times before. Thieves whizzing by on speed bikes and grabbing your phone, especially after putting your pin in, shoulder surfing...it's become an epidemic, but police don't want to know unless violence is used.

This has been happening for years so nothing new here. Its like everything else and that Is don`t have things visible on display. The trouble with people these days they want the latest model where In reality they are only phones. As long as you can phone what difference what model/phone you have. I just don`t get It.

I keep mine out of sight in busy areas and in the street. Use it only when I need to. Aware of my surroundings also as not using it.

Now that so many have their credit and bank cards stored on their phone it’s easy to use these if they haven’t set up two system security.

I seldom if ever take my phone with me if I am going out. It's an unnecessary distraction.

Leannexxx it is so sad. One of my daughters will put her ear buds in when she is in a supermarket so she doesn’t have to speak to people lol

The only time I bring my phone out in public is setting up the bar code so I can get my free coffee at Greggs and Yeovil so far doesn't appear to have lowlife scum going about on mopeds etc stealing people's phones but it will probably get to us in time. I do look at local news and can't remember seeing such an incident here but we still have all the normal shoplifting, pub fights etc.

I think the media has a lot to answer for. When these things start or are brought to the attention of the public they increase drastically. I didn't know how these thieves managed to do this but hey, watch the news and magazine programmes and you can get a free tutorial.

It’s quite common where I am in London, particularly ****** and grab. We all need to be vigilant when out and about

This is going to be a bit hard as this is where most people use them. When I was in the Dominican Republic they have armed police on the open buses as thieves ride by on motorbikes and grab tourist phones while they are taking pictures.

This isn't something that is new, people have been stealing phones for years. I always keep my phone hidden when I'm out.

It's mad isn't it and sad that we can't feel that we can use our own stuff in case it's stolen
