Gmb Warn Not to Use Phones While Out
In the News
Because of the amount of phones being stolen there's a warning on gmb saying we shouldn't have phones on view or use them in public places. Apparently stolen phones is at its highest level ever.
Do you feel safe in your area
Been watching it on +1 but they have discussed this several times before. Thieves whizzing by on speed bikes and grabbing your phone, especially after putting your pin in, shoulder surfing...it's become an epidemic, but police don't want to know unless violence is used.
This has been happening for years so nothing new here. Its like everything else and that Is don`t have things visible on display. The trouble with people these days they want the latest model where In reality they are only phones. As long as you can phone what difference what model/phone you have. I just don`t get It.
I keep mine out of sight in busy areas and in the street. Use it only when I need to. Aware of my surroundings also as not using it.
Now that so many have their credit and bank cards stored on their phone it’s easy to use these if they haven’t set up two system security.
It's bad when I'm out I have my phone in my bag inside my coat and head phones in just so my phones not out I wouldn't mind it's not a expensive phone but it's mine and these cheeky little s**** think they have a right to take it from someone scum they are over the last month here they have been mugging near me for peoples bikes phones electric scooters nothing is safe when out
Leannexxx it is so sad. One of my daughters will put her ear buds in when she is in a supermarket so she doesn’t have to speak to people lol
The only time I bring my phone out in public is setting up the bar code so I can get my free coffee at Greggs and Yeovil so far doesn't appear to have lowlife scum going about on mopeds etc stealing people's phones but it will probably get to us in time. I do look at local news and can't remember seeing such an incident here but we still have all the normal shoplifting, pub fights etc.
I think the media has a lot to answer for. When these things start or are brought to the attention of the public they increase drastically. I didn't know how these thieves managed to do this but hey, watch the news and magazine programmes and you can get a free tutorial.
It’s quite common where I am in London, particularly ****** and grab. We all need to be vigilant when out and about
This is going to be a bit hard as this is where most people use them. When I was in the Dominican Republic they have armed police on the open buses as thieves ride by on motorbikes and grab tourist phones while they are taking pictures.
This isn't something that is new, people have been stealing phones for years. I always keep my phone hidden when I'm out.
It's mad isn't it and sad that we can't feel that we can use our own stuff in case it's stolen
Isnt this crazy though that we shouldnt have our own phones out in public in fear of them being stolen? its sad really. I think we all go on our phones when were out and about, i use the maps on mine so I wont be stopping using it
My partner, daughter & I DON'T own & WON'T own an expensive mobile phone in case it's stolen or we lose it
That's so sad . I didn't know this happens makes me a bit wary to have it out on public now x
We were out and about In Southampton yesterday and the amount of people you see walking along with their phones held out in front of them totally not looking where they are going. I must have ‘almost’ bumped into a lot of them or rather they almost bumped into me. Anyone could take a swipe out of someone’s hand.
So what exactly is the point of having a mobile phone if i’m not supposed to use it when i’m out. I know it does happen but this definitely feels like scaremongering to me.
Watching the tv today i was listening to how you can no longer get a ‘map’ for the London Underground so if you are not sure of your journey you have to have your phone out to use the app. Quite a prime location to have your phone stolen.
Lawless Britain at it's finest, it's gotten so ridiculous now, every time our older kids go out, we have to remind them not to use phones outside unless we are calling them
It’s terrible that there are people that do this. Phones are worth a lot of money. It’s like waving £900 around and hoping you aren’t targeted
Everywhere I go I see people openly using their phones or with them hanging out of their pockets , so such an easy thing to steal if someone wanted to.
I don't own an expensive phone as I'm not addicted to it like the younger generation, that's the problem though, they're all addicted to them and spend most of there time on them, and see it as part of them, take there phones away for 1 day and the Mental Health Crisis will go through the roof.
