The Greenest Way to Die without Leaving a Large Carbon Footprint

In the News

It is not a subject we wish to talk about but unfortunately it happens to us all, dying

We have two main alternatives in the UK, burial or cremation, the latter being the cheaper option

But there are many other forms of disposal available , two mentioned in this article are water cremation and mushroom coffins

Water cremation converts the body to a liquid and the mushroom coffin absorbs things contained in a body such as pharmaceuticals, microplastics, heavy metals which would normally be absorbed into the earth , unfortunately not good for the environment

Maybe we should be looking at the alternatives ?

My mum has paid her money to pure cremations and she will be delivered to my door. Took me a while to get my head around this, but it’s her decision. Not sure why she couldn’t have been delivered to my brother, he lives in the same house as her.

eyeballkerry maybe your mother knows you’ll be more respectful of her ashes and scatter her somewhere nice.

Pjran You are probably right. If they went to my brother they would be left on the doorstep for weeks!

Getting the cheapest not the most green is more important. I would be more arsed about the carbon footprint if the cost of dying wasn’t a rip off.

SilverSurfer I think it should be free S, maybe paid from your NI payments as the state pension is

We dont pay when we are born , why pay when we die ?

telmel because it’s a con. I agree a basic funeral should be free for everyone and if anyone else’s want to pay extra then that should be available.
