The Hair Metal Appreciation Thread Featuring a Singing Banana

Other

The last few days here at latest deals has thrown up some 80s hair metal band names, Faster Pussycat, L.A Guns, Europe. I knew we had to have some fans here. You would be surprised at how many records these bands sold. Anyways, to kick things off, here's a singing banana from The Masked Singer US. I think I know who it is. 'Pick up that guitar C.C, Talk to me'. Now who could this be?

This is going to be my own personal educational thread for young uns who don't know the sheer brilliance of the Bulletboys Smooth up in ya. Sometimes I just have to play this loud.

Totally politically incorrect, Britney Fox's Girlschool. 'You're staying after school!' is so wrong, yet so right. This would probably cause a twitter hashtag campaign if made now.

Tonight's hair band, well more of good rock band is my fave of the genre, L.A. Guns. The bass player can carry me off on his motorbike anytime he likes.

If I may share a few, I would like to start by offering up some W. A. S. P

Quality choice! I love wild child. That song is almost a religious anthem to me. 😜 I got busted once by my mum listening to that on headphones and really getting into it and not knowing she had come into my bedroom. She was laughing at me. I can still feel the shame about that now. ☺️ Restless gyspy, forever free, mean man, L.O.V.E. I do like a bit of W.A.S.P.

I think this one is more bluesy than hair metal but coming out 1991 means that it was buried by Grunge. John Corabi would end up briefly in Motley Crue (I love that album with John. Much better than Vince Neil) before getting dumped by them. I think Corabi is only getting respect as a vocalist now decades later after his spell in The Dead Daises, etc. But this track Man in the Moon, I just love. I don't many people out there have even heard it.

RnD194hd If you haven't heard Motley Crue's 1994 Album with Corabi, check it out. Way heavier than Crue. Tracks like Welcome to the numb and smoke the sky. I love that album. I think it is only being giving any respect now all these years later. I don't know why rock fans were so fond of Vince.

A bit of a slower 1 from one of my all time favourite bands, Skid Row, seen them a couple of times live and wasn't disappointed

Over 20 years ago, I was serenaded by my then boyfriend singing this song. 😆 I think it is more of a break up song and funnily enough we did. 😀 Did you see Skid Row with Sebastian? I keep hoping they will get him back for one tour. I still have my Skid Row road videos, oh say can you scream and roadkill. Loved Skid Row with Sebastian. I still know the words by heart from their Headbanger's ball appearances. We would watch them over and over. This interview is a classic when Baz talks about getting AIDS tested, etc

ShellyAnn no never saw them with Sebastian unfortunately but having seen seb Bach doing solo stuff in recent years wouldn't want him back, his voice sounds shot. Johnny Solinger isn't a bad replacement though not as good as bach from early albums but decent in his own right.

RnD194hd I have never listened to Sebastian solo. I just can't have either Skid Row or Sebastian without each other. The inner 14 year old in me wants to just stand at the front of the stage and scream to relive my early teenage years when my best friend and I idolised that band. That's why I would like them to reform. I doubt Sebastian could hit any of those hits notes nowadays with his big belly - he was stick thin back then. Their headbangers ball interviews were the best.

now here's a hair metal album that was a little too late in the day before grunge, Vain's No Respect. I have it on vinyl.

RnD194hd I wasn't too keen on them back in the 90s but I think they have a sound that I appreciate more now that I'm older. I think they were much of the blues, too much harmonica for the teenage me. I'm finding that by going back to the bands from the late 80s/90s, I can appreciate some bands much more now than I did then when I was hung up on G 'n' R, Skid Row, L.A Guns, Pantera, KISS. My focus was very narrow when I was young.

Today's stupidity is KISS' Uh! All Night. I swear Paul Stanley was living his best life in the 80s. 🤣 Gene doesn't know what to do with himself without the make up, but Stanley LOVED it! I watch 80s KISS on occassion just for Paul. The clothes, the dancing.... OMG 😱 🤣

I haven't forgotten today's hair metal video. I've been too busy with being only 3 days away from moving house. Today's car crash video is Pretty Boy floyd's Rock 'n' Roll (is gonna set the world on fire). I think this one is the reason why grunge happened. I wish I was as girly looking as they are 😱 😜
