I'm looking to treat myself to a designer handbag for casual use. Which brand does everyone prefer, what's the go to brand for you?

It depends on your budget. My daughter’s friend treats herself to Chanel bags costing thousands. I wouldn’t pay that much but a Mulberry one yes.

DKNY used to be my go to - the ones I have now are classed as vintage. Still excellent quality after 20+ years use 😃

Just out of interest, why designer?

I'm boring I like a cross body simple bag, simple, practical, keeps my hands free etc.

I never really understand designer, especially when most of them have their name and logo printed all over them. You are basically paying hundreds/thousands to advertise for them and often it is made of animal or in my opinion quite ugly 😂

I do love some of the Kipling bags with the Monkey on them, but they've changed the monkey, I preferred the old ones 😂 Plus I don't know if they are even classed as designer,

Sorry not overly helpful response, I would just generally love to know why, curiosity more than anything. I always felt like most designer was just to show off to other people.

DeBunny I hate handbags and even clothing with massive writing on them with the brand name. I prefer a much more subtle logo

DeBunny I only buy designers to treat myself, it's something that I rarely do. But they just make me happy lol. I don't do it to show off, mostly just for my own happiness. And I do feel like they're better quality and long lasting.

DeBunny I must admit I am like you on this and similar. I absolutely deplore the thought of handing over my hard earned cash to the super rich to make them richer and laugh at us for doing so. Most of these items cost a minute percentage of the retail price to manufacture.

Does anyone know your bag cost £5000 or £50? And that goes for most designer brands. I would actually feel guilty spending stupid amounts on goods even if I could afford to do so, especially when so many of my fellow humans cannot afford their food shopping.

I’d say it’s all about your budget personally and just shop around in that budget, you might even find a cheaper brand you like more than designer

KateGriff169 tk maxx can be a good place for cheaper designer bags. They only normally have one or two, but you can get lucky

I have bought a few guess handbags when in Barbados. The duty free shipping is fantastic there. I only paid £50 last year for one

Depends on your budget, personally I don't like to spend over £100. Michael Kors, Kate Spade bags which are nice quality & favourites I own. If you can hold off I'd wait until black Friday or January sales for some good price drops. www.mybag.com/sale.list. This site is decent & worth signing up to, they often send extra discounts for sale items.

I have never bought anything designer ever. If I did like PayItForward said I’d try tkmaxx.

Go to TK Maxx and browse. I don't go in for designer labels myself, but I needed a new bag and it needed to be big to fit all my sons stuff in when we go out. I got a massive Guess one for £60.

I personally don't understand why people would pay exhorbanate prices just for a handbag. It's just showing off.

LyndaSarrington it's not always about showing off. Some ppl like to treat themselves. I don't usually get designer but on occasions I like to treat myself.

I was very lucky to buy a Michael Kors in American a few years ago on sale at TJMaxx’s their version of ours. It was reduced to $35 back then it was around £22. I still have it and I’ve not used it for a couple years but it does not date like some bags. But I would also look on Secret Sales they have some good brands there.

I’ve bought a few designer bags but if you really want to use the bag daily you may as well just get a Radley or similar. Or even wait until Black Friday then decide on high end depending on budget.

I treat myself every now and again to a Fairfax and Favor bag (and shoes, boots, etc) from them. Excellent quality, suede or leather, different sizes and styles, British brand.

Ralph Lauren also is my go to bags I have a few styles in them in leather,

Saving for an LV bag, always liked to have one just things have sent the savings the other way (house etc).

Never quite understood the obsession with designer goods. You're just overpaying for goods

which aren't necessarily any better.I'd much rather have something plain and sturdy that lasts. Not that I like handbags anyway. Can't get nearly enough in them. Image

I have a few designer bags which have been kindly bought for me by friends, they have even passed on their old ones that they've replaced and I really appreciate that gesture but I would never spend a lot of money just for a name.

My go to bag is a pink neon Kipling bag that originally costs £95 but it went down to £25+ from Debenhams many years ago! Very useful has lots of compartments and waterproof I have been using it for a few years and they are long lasting!
