Happy Grandparents Day
Other
I didn’t know this day had been nominated to Grandparents.
It seems there are so many days to celebrate these days but this one I approve of.
A load of rubbish if you ask me. I only heard of it last month due to "Moon Pig"? giving away free cards. Another American import.
Pjran Grandparents' Day was introduced to the UK in 1990 by Age Concern, it's been celebrated (apparently) on the first Sunday in October since 2008. Originated in West Virginia 1973. OH has 6 grandkids and no cards but that's not surprising as 4 (2 their Dads does it) don't know how to buy Birthday or Christmas cards!
lilyflower lots of people no longer send cards due to the cost plus postage. I sent one to my sister in law last month, card plus postage £4.50. Then the cards are binned a week later.
Pjran His grandkids live within a 10 minute walk or they could drive in 2 minutes, they can't leave their street without passing our house.
Pjran I'm not a fan of cards to be honest, I prefer not to have them, when the occasion is over I want to throw them away but my wife says keep them, for what?? My mother and father in law just give each other the same card every Christmas lol cards must be 20 years old
Yeah never heard of this one before, I’m not against it but personally i prefer to celebrate the people close to me whenever i can
What's grandparents day wouldn't be interested in the nonsense anyway and I have 3 grand kids, fathers day is grandad day
martinlufc5637 I expect it’s to sell more cards and flowers. I did hint to my son but he took no notice but I shouldn’t complain as last week he arrived with a beautiful bunch of flowers.
Never heard of it, most likely just another money making scheme they're trying to integrate into the UK
Since when did this day happen? I grandparents were appreciated every day when they were both alive. I miss them dearly
This day has been going a long while, never celebrated it but my mum wanted too! Too many of these special days now, teachers day, nurses day. If you google a day something always comes up.
