Any Tips For Hay Fever Symptoms?
Ask a Question
I suffer terribly with hay fever and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for dealing with symptoms (aside from medication as I’m already prescribed tablets) I’ve seen the face wipes but unsure if they are any good or if they are any different from using normal wet wipes. If anyone has any tips I’d be grateful as I now work as a delivery driver so I will be outside a lot more this summer. My main symptoms are red swollen eyes, itching, sneezing, coughing.
Eye drops are good for swollen eyes, my husband uses them all the time during hay-fever season. I don't think the face wipes do anything personally that a normal one doesn't.
My husband has found that boots own are really good. We talked to the pharmacist and went off their recommendations
Cucumber on eyes work well and ice pop for itchy mouth. I'm considering looking into the hayfever vaccine as I can't stop sneezing already
Have you tried the heyfever injection. My husband has it once a years and it’s amazing lasts him all year. Expensive at £170 but worth it x
I hadn’t heard of it until I read about it in a comment above. Definately will look into it thankyou
Vicks under nose is a good one... I usually use the syrup hay-fever allergy version... Boots do a good one... also if you can find local honey recently cultivated and have some regularly... the honey contains some pollen which when ingested your system gets used to it if that makes sense... this has helped me the last couple of years...
You say aside from medication, I'm guessing that means 'in case the tablets don't work'? There's quite a few options about if that's the case. I've ended up on nasal spray and tablets for my hayfever, the latter as backup, which more or less holds things together (the previous nasal spray I was on was excellent, but the NHS won't allow it to be issued on NHS prescription so it's only available on private prescription now). One thing I've found when it comes to nasal spray (don't know if it would work for tablets too) - instructions usually say take it in the morning, for me it works better if taken last thing at night.
I take a daily fexofenadine and piriton at night if needed but sometimes they don’t work. When I was pregnant I had to stop taking the tablets so my doctor prescribed a nasal spray but it did t do much to be honest. Do you have any nasal sprays you have found that work?
An ear piercing very similar to the daith piercing, my daughter does them and its only fully trained people that know the pressure point it works with, she has a 95% satisfaction rate with it, I have it and have also found bites don't itch as much now either
I highly recommend the hay-fever injection. I pay £38 every 6 months and I can now function outdoors. I can say with confidence I have not had any symptoms or side effects now for 3years.
Wearing contact lenses has definitely helped my itchy eyes. I also take prescribed hay fever meds.
Ooh I do have contacts but only usually wear them if I go out for a meal or drinks so I will definately try this, thankyou
Some ppl put Vaseline at the nostrils not inside outside to stop
pollen going into the Nose
Will definitely give this a try, my nose itches so much feels like it’s stuffed with cotton wool
I suffered for years as a teen and It just vanished then. Antihistamines worked when they felt like. I would say If you do go out wash your clothes as pollen sticks to them. Get yourself an air purifier. Make sure you clean up regularly. I was going to say Vaseline or eye drops but thats been covered.
I read recently that eating local honey can help with hayfever, I have no idea if it works though.
I pop Vaseline on the inside of my nose and I always wash my face when I come in from being outside
