I havent bought heinz beans for ages 🤣 Aldi do a four pack of their own brand that taste lovely and are a fraction of the cost of heinz.

Hi catherinejames I don't normally buy Heinz they were on offer. But they are not worth full money now. The taste was all full. And the watery sauce. I will be staying with super markets own. Much better in taste and price. 😊

I buy the Aldi four packs too (98 pence) they're as good, if not better, than some of the expensive brands.

I notice that they were 28 pence a tin over 8 years ago.

Honey and Abbie sum up the similarities and price differences with Heinz Beans here

Sadly, this seems to be the case with many brands of foods and drinks these days. I guess it's the manufacterers' way of 'updating' their products. x

Hi regularcomper90 why have they got to change the taste. I know to save money. It's wrong that they are doing this to our food. The beans was all full. And the sauce was watery and looked horrorable never worth the money now. 😊

They should ask the customers' what they want. 👍 xx

I’m afraid the brand went downhill for me years ago, so I’ve switched to cheaper alternatives, like Aldis, if I fancy beans. It used to taste delicious when I was a kid. Now it’s all watered down

Hi hspexy when i opened the tin it was fuelled with watery sauce and hardly and beans. And the taste of the baked beans was all full.😊

I never found them appealing. Got some packs, but it was lack of any taste..

I checked my cupboard and they have not gone downhill they are still in place! Actually ages ago I moved to Branstons that I love. Whatever brand I buy I always use a spoon with holes to take out the beans so there is less juice. The best way to eat them though is cold from the can when the juice is thicker with vinegar on top. Try it.

nicolajaynehend I am not joking in case you were thinking that. A friend from school always ate them like that when I had dinner at his house. Really lovely.

I haven't bought Heinz beans in years! We buy the value beans. Morrisons and tesco have a bit of juice in them but the sainsbury value beans are amazing, not too much juice and taste fab, 35p a tin.

Hi mrscraig I only brought the Heinz baked beans because they were on offer. I will now stick to super markets own much better and cheaper. The tin was full of watery sauce and the taste was all full. 😊

There are quite a lot of good products in the Sainsbury's Basics range which are just as good as the big branded versions, if not better.

nicolajaynehend yeah I'm not a fan of Heinz. My mother in law still tells the story about when she had to buy Heinz beans as they didn't have any value ones and her youngest refused to eat them! This was about 10 years ago

RegularComper90 totally agree. I buy the basics/value range from all the supermarkets. I don't tend to notice a difference and sainsbury basics are brilliant.

Yes I agree, they’re more watery and nowadays I add a little brown sauce to them. I do buy supermarket own brands but if Heinz are on offer I buy them.

Hi pjran I brought the Heinz because they were on offer. They are not worth full price. I've never put brown sauce in with baked beans. Will have to try that sounds lovely. Thank you for the tip 😊

If I'm eating beans on toast, the best bit for me is the sauce anyway, when it has made all the toast go soggy, it

s the beans themselves that are awful, don't eat Heinz anymore anyway as they put honey in their beans

Agree-- bought cans of heinze beans in bulk only to discover cans were all juice. Similar discovery with cans of marryat peas etc. Also Napolena chopped tomatoes were like cans of passata. Why isn't the consumer watchdog taking action. Will not be buying again. Also don't get me started on shrinking packers of cereals!!!!

williamjames280 I totally agree with you on the Napolina toms - both chopped and whole. They used to be quality. I now only buy passata and add puree if necessary. (I thought it was just me 😆 )

I remember in the past buying safeway baked beans and all the beans were crushed at one end of the tin and all the sauce in the other you had to mix them yourself. Also in the past I bought some Lidl baked beans and they had a weird flowery taste but in recent times I can't tell the difference between cheap baked beans. I've just bought a couple of tins from morrisons at 22p a tin under their savers range and find them good quality. So pointless paying more. I think in recent times the cheapest I've seen was 19p as an offer and they were fine too. I don't think I'm too fussy about baked beans to be honest as long as they aren't weird tasting or the beans are overly soft and mushy. If anything I prefer the firmer beans which probably means less cooking so more likely in a cheap tin of beans.

I like Heinz Baked Beans but I have noticed they seem more watery these days. Brands always seem to be making changes to their products these days, it can get frustrating if they ruin something you used to like.

I haven't had Heinz baked beans for years. I agree with the other comments that they became too sweet with too much sauce. Branston all the way in our house. 🙂

I still like them, but I now mainly purchase the Heinz Five Beans in tomato sauce cans. Sainsbury's produce a similar product, but it's not as good.

They are very runny and less tasty, I agree. I wrote a comment on this many moons ago as I had a tin of Heinz tomato soup which tasted nothing like it used to. It is a way for the manufacturers to make more money: Just cut down on the amount of certain ingredients and the saving is massive when you are selling millions of items per week. Trouble is, the price keeps going up too!

I must admit I am Heinz all the way, but again will only usually buy when on offer but they are still better than any of the others. I dont mind Branston though if they are on a really good offer.

I'm not very fussy about baked beans pretty much all of them taste great to me. The only exceptions I can think of is years ago when Safeway were about they did beans where all beans were all crushed at one end and the sauce was all at the other end and some Lidl beans that had a weird flowery taste but I've since tried Lidl beans and fine nowadays. Sometimes shops change suppliers though as I believe there are quite a few factories knocking out baked beans so they might change occasionally when contracts change.

We gave up Heinz beans a long time ago and buy Waitrose own brand or Branston ones. Also the Waitrose soups taste the same as Heinz.

I stopped buying Heinz beans about 15 years ago. Branston launched their version in 2005 but it took me a couple of years to trust that they would be any good. Never looked back as I prefer their flavour.

Most companies change their ingredients without telling you and say new and in improved but it never is.

Pfs 7up "Free" for example just doesn't taste as good as the original.

They use artificial sugar and it changes the taste.

I don't eat it very often so wouldn't be able to tell, but do like good, well warm baked beans.

Heinz Baked Beans may have decreased in quality, yet it wasn't in stock for my monthly delivery by Amazon.

Heinz Beanz were never my favourite, I remember when I was younger my mother always bought HP beans they were in a red labelled tin and they were excellent, but when they changed to a blue label I thought that they were too watery so I've been buying Branston ever since as they have much thicker tomato sauce.
