Would You Help Remove This Spider for £25 ?
In the News
If you decide to move to Australia you expect to see some big creepy crawlies
And this British ex pat certainly found a big one in her house in the form of a huntsman spider, one of the larger
So she took to social media to ask if anyone would remove it for $50 or £25
Unfortunately she had no takers, i think they had all been watching I'm a celebrity , so knew what to expect
A woman in the UK had a similar experience but went further and decided to call 999 to ask the police to come and remove hers , they obviously declined
I would have taken up the offer for £25 if i lived close enough, using the vacuum was a good idea , but not the mentioned blow torch , unless you wanted to burn the house down along with cremating the spider
Yeah. It's a huntsman spider. They are massive but pretty much harmless. They don't really bite unless you manhandle them, and eve. If they did bite you, their venom isn't strong enough to cause any kind of damage to humans. That being said, I wouldn't grab it with my hands. Just trap it under a very large tub or bucket, slide something flat under the container and carry it outside.
Fear of spiders is somewhat irrational. Not trying to say I don't understand why people find them scary, I do get it. They look intimidating, especially the large ones. And they're very fast, and of course, some can be deadly. But they kill flies and other household pests, they don't really damage your property, they're not aggressive. Anything that kills flies is a friend of mine, cannot stand flies. Filthy, disgusting little things.
I was very brave and got a spider off near the ceiling and put it out of bathroom window so my son could have a shower last week he is scared of spiders
Yeah I don't think so, I'm fine looking at them but don't want to go near them. Not sure there is a figure I would be happy taking to remove it
I would have freaked out I would also get someone to remove it as I don't believe in hurting them but I don't want them in the house either if they're really big lol
I’d have done it for free if she lived locally, wouldn’t want the spider to get hurt/killed so if i can take it outside would be better
Not so fussed on very large spider but small ones are no problem I just pick them up and put them outside, but as long as a spider is on a flat surface they are simple to remove using a container and a piece of paper or card. Place the container over the spider and slide the paper underneath it, then release the spider into the garden .
No not even for £100! I can't stand spiders although if my children ask they are lovely creatures which are good for nature.
