It is an absolute minefield now when you go abroad on holiday
From not walking around the towns in spain barechested or in bikini tops to not being allowed take drinks to the beach or go topless
Then there is driving, you cannot drive bare chested or in flipflops or you can incur a massive fine , the flipflop law is quite sensible
Not being allowed too many drinks when all inclusive etc etc
Now there is another to put in your notebook
Croatia have banned suitcases in the likes of Dubrovnic
If you are caught dragging a suitcase through the cobbled streets you could end up paying out £228 in fines
It is because of the noise pollution residents have complained of
They are putting together a collection service from outside the town
So even after all that planning and expense with the budget airline restrictions you still have to worry about your suitcases on terra firma
Call me an old fuddy duddy ( I heard that!) but I agree with every one of those and wish we had more rules like that in our country.
When on holiday it's so noisy on change over day, people arriving and departing with very noisy suitcases. I would like this rule everywhere. Unfortunately we've got out of the habit of actually carrying your suitcases.
Auntielettie Its because people pack so much nowadays A, you need the wheels to move all that weight
Well it would be noisy on cobbles and if you live there and hear it all the time I do sympathise. It’s bad enough to have noisy neighbours here. Just take steps not to be noisy I suppose. Even if it means lifting them for a bit.
MelissaLee1 Not sure about that one M, i think it depends where your hotel is , if the coach cannot get close enough because of the narrow streets you may have a problem because of the law , i could see people creating courier jobs to carry your cases to the hotels if a taxi cannot access them , they already are talking about this

Be interesting to see how strictly they enforce this, surely it will depend on the time of day as well. I can see where the residents are coming from if people are waking them up in the middle of the night with this but at the same time if all the streets are cobbled there's not a lot tourists can do.
I assumed that the damage to the cobbles would have been the primary cause of their worries but I can see that noise would also be a huge issue. We visited Korcula in Croatia once and it was such a beautiful place.
