Big Purchases You Regret and The Ones You Love ?

Ask a Question

I read this and found it very interesting

Seeing different points of view for certain home improvements

A few surprised me, like owning a pool , a hot tub and a home gym, things on my wish list , or so i thought , as these could end up being white elephants

The one closest to home for me was installing new flooring, again something i was thinking of to replace carpet, ,but if you dont get a good quality hard wearing finish you could end up with scratches , especially if you own a dog like me

I agree about leather furniture, much more easy to maintain and longer lasting than fabric

I would love to know anyones own experiences on some of these improvements and if they found problems similar to those in the article ?

I just had a look through the article and totally agree with getting a good quality fence. My husband did ours and it have never come down in the high winds. Unfortunately my mother went for a cheaper one and my husband is always having to fix hers!

eyeballkerry I would have advised your mum before E, i am sure she wouldn't have taken 'a fence' 😉

I can't say there are any big purchases that I regret. Can't think of what the best one is as they have all been brilliant.

We've just been landed with an all electric car. What a nightmare that is. Absolutely hate the thing 🙃

Just take care you park on the road overnight and not in your garage 😬

Bought a sage smart oven air fryer.

Biggest disappointment ever. Great as an oven but as an air fryer it is useless. The elements are open in the bottom with just 2 metal rods above them so fat drips right on them. But if you put anything under the basket to catch the drips it stops the air circulation so doesn’t cook evenly!

The metal rods above the elements mean it’s a beggar to clean too cos you can’t get down between. Awful design.

Use it now as an oven only and bought a ninja which is amazing!

tarara1973 it does not sound that smart. Can't you return the thing as it doesn't appear to work as it should?

Ilovethebeach In hindsight I should have done but 18 months later I still have. I think because it was so good as an oven I saw past its flaws at first and just put up with them. But over time it’s become more and more annoying!

4 years ago I bought a Kitchenaid food mixer as I love baking. They are expensive so I looked for the cheapest one I could find in the size I wanted, and compromised telling myself that the colour did not matter. Some colours were £200+ more than others for the same mixer. The cheapest one I found was called cafe latte. I expected it to be a bland beige, but when I got it out of the box it was a light cream with small silver sparkles. I love it.

We got a hot tub a few years ago. We used it about sixty times and it helped with aches and pains. It has laid unused as it costs a fortune to keep it running. Now it’s our white elephant and it would be difficult to get it out the back garden.
