Should the Inbetweeners Make a Comeback ?

In the News

The inbetweeners was absolutely one of my favourite tv programmes

And the boys characters were perfect for the episodes shown

Now i have read that James Buckley, aka Jay has said he would never return to being that character or make another episode

I understand they are a lot older now, so playing schoolkids would not be an option

But they could have done another series as adults, i am sure it would be a success

What do you think ?

I think he is right that they should leave it where it is. I loved the Inbetweeners, but I can't see a version where they are adults being as good. It would totally change the dynamic of the show and the reason it worked was because they were teenagers. Being in their 30s and doing the same things just wouldn't work in my opinion.

MrsCraig I totally agree with you. Although I absolutely loved the series and the films, they are grown up now and probably wouldn’t be the same. I do like watching them all in other projects they have done, especially Friday night dinner.

MrsCraig I know what you mean M, but i would have still liked them to try, it's like faulty towers, a very nostalgic programme for me and i am not sure that would work now, but they are discussing bringing it back , the only reason the inbetweeners might not work is because the original cast don't want it and replacements definitely wouldn't

Maybe in years to come they might have their children playing inbetweeners 2 🤔

eyeballkerry Yes E , some have definitely adapted to other sitcoms which shows how good they are

telmel If you like The Inbetweeners you should like Drifters if you haven’t seen like. It’s like the female version but not as funny

No it shouldn't, it's like all the good comedy's, they are good because they are of their time, they are never as good the second time around and usually just ruin the good memories of the originals, with the only exception being the Christmas specials of Gavin and Stacey, what's occurring 😂😂😂

They were good as they were. Nothing will be the same If they made a comeback. Same as Fawlty Towers, Only Fools & Horses, etc etc etc. Now I heard about Wonka? How can a prequel compare to the 1971 version? Nothing compares or will do too. Wonka can be nothing without the original cast. Especially Gene Wilder.

i think because they had so much success its a bit of a gamble for them to return in case they don't manage to make the show as great as before.

I wouldn’t mind a one off Christmas special or something like that cause i think they have worked well for other shows like outnumbered.

As for a series, I don’t think it would be much good. The second film wasn’t great.

I think the actor who plays Jay got fed up of being typecast which is why he doesn’t want a return.

The scene where simon exchanged his trainers for the tramps shoes to get in the nightclub was hilarious

I watched the movies as well as the series and the 1st movie was miles in front of the 2nd . The 2nd film was rubbish and tbh it shouldn't come back as sometimes its good to come up with something different.
