Are You Introvert or Extrovert?

Ask a Question

I’m definitely introvert but not shy, just quiet which is often mistaken. I’m thinking of looking for another job as this one (cafe assistant) is not suiting me any longer. Also I’m over 50 now. What do you do for a living, particularly as an introvert?

I'm in my late 50's I'm an introvert (also not shy) and a carer. I've never been a party person , don't have any friends but will happily chat to all my neighbour's, people walking their dogs in the park, customers in the supermarket/bus stop.

Pinkspirit Do you enjoy being a care assistant? I realise it’s still work. Not sure what I want to do.

JLouM l enjoy helping people, l get bored if l sit still for long so am always pottering from cleaning, cooking, gardening, tyding up even decorating, l enjoy before and afters, it's very therapeutic for me and most elderly / medically ill clients cannot do it for themselves 😊

I’ve always been shy but that didn’t stop me work wise. I did accounting then just general part time secretarial work once my children started school.

Pjran I started out as a typist/secretary before computers took over and the internet. Not so much demand these days. I got caught up in reorganisations that didn’t work very well.

I'm a teacher so I'm probably more of an extrovert. I will talk to pretty much anyone and I have no issues embarrassing myself infront of the pupils. I was more introverted when I was younger but grew out of it when I went to University.

Wow, that's a hard one. I suppose some would say extrovert as I spent my career standing in front of crowds and performing wedding and civil ceremonies. I also have no problem public speaking, my history talks. On the other hand I dislike parties with lots of strangers (family is fine) and find it hard to make random conversation. I am getting better all the time and now find I can speak and get to know all the old folk in my Tuesday club and spoke with many ladies at the WI meeting recently. On balance I would say always been middling but now becoming more extrovert.

JLouM yes and register their births and deaths and conduct citizenship ceremonies in the council chambers. I was lucky to marry my sister and her then husband and have registered all my grandchildren.

Bit of a strange one is me, I'm probably a little bit of both to be honest, depends on the situation.

HEDGEHOGS Some people I know like to be centre of attention all the time. I’m happier to bumble along in the background. I still have interests though and if with the right people can be quite sociable.

Introvert all the way. Seem super confident when I’m situations that involve a lot of people but actually desperately uncomfortable and trying to think of a way to get out from the moment I’m there

Introvert I think I'm getting worse as I get older. The world around me makes less and less sense as time goes on. So I'm retreating into myself more.

I much refer the quiet life to the noise of crowds although can do it easily as/when/if necessary.

suevernon1968 Sorry you had cancer but yes being burned out doesn’t make you introvert.

JLouM life is for living and i believe everyone has the right to live it how they want. I know I’m disabled- but hate it when people talk to whoever is pushing the wheelchair and not me. I will say very loudly - its my back and legs that are knackered not my brain. Lol

suevernon1968 Understandable. That is just so rude of people. I see quite a few people in wheelchairs at work and I always speak to them.
