King Charles' Staff Told They Face Redundancy Days after Queen Died

When I read this, I thought how insensitive the timing was, couldn't the letter informing staff that they were under threat of redundancy have waited until the Queen was laid to rest ?
It reminded me of being called into a meeting just before a Christmas party to be told that the company was downsizing.
There is no good time for this type of news, but some times the timing makes things worse, have you experienced anything similar ?

They probably realised it was coming so to many would not have been a shock. Never nice to lose your job at any time.
It is required by law to inform the employees as soon as possible. It doesn't mean that they all are going to lose their jobs. Probably, most of them will be offered another position.
It could have waited Ten days, does not give the best impression but we all deal With grief in our own ways.
Howmuch Waiting ten days would not have been "as soon as possible" which is as kikogpe has pointed out (comment above yours) is what is required. It's a tricky situation and the staff are not told they will be made redundant but if it is unavoidable they will receive enhanced redundancy payments. That must come as a relief to many who would, quite naturally, have been worrying about their position.
davidstockport As Somebody that likes to face things head on, I can see the the benefit in knowing sooner rather than later. Change of any kind can be difficult for some people to handle. Objectively I can see a lot of people are deeply upset at the moment and uncertainty never helps anyone.

I think the Queen had too many staff to begin with, but King Charles is being insensitive. Shame on him.
jam45 Have you read the article? Those who MIGHT be made redundant were not the Queen's staff. And it's highly unlikely that King Charles had anything to do with it. He has had far more pressing things to attend to in the past week than warn his EX staff of the possibility* of redundancies.
* Some uninformed people who think his late mother had too many staff - should actually welcome any redundancies (if there are any). Shame on them!

I can actually see it from both sides. There is never a good time to be told that you might be made redundant- but again it could of waited until after the funeral. He seems to have a tough act to follow as everyone did seem to love our queen
