What Kitten Name Would You Choose?

Ask a Question

I am looking to get a female kitten and was after unusual names. The kitten will either be ginger and white or tortoise shell and white.

Our little Torti was named Topaz by my daughter because she has beautiful Topaz Yellow eyes & is her cat, we also call her Topsey, Princess Tortikins or Toto when calling her home...

janphoenix51 What a beautiful cat she is. How old is she? Do you have any other pets? We are getting another cat as our cat is our only pet after losing two cats and a dog in her life time.

janphoenix51 beautiful - but then I am biased as she looks so much like our Trudi (who is 17 years old now) Image

didbygraham ...Trudi is absolutely beautiful..

Phoenix was my late 32 year old Nephew D's favourite out of the 2,he used to call Topaz a "Messy Cat" because of her colouring, our D was excellent at Art Topaz would have been a Painters Palette for him,he loved all animals & was a devoted daddy to 2 beautiful little daughters...

DRG RIP..X

Yes here is her brother Phoenix, he is my cat hence my user name..

Phoenix & Topaz were 10 on March 7th,had them since they were 8 weeks old, they are our babies..

Phoenix was born with one white Whisker,Topaz has what looks like white eye liner below her left eye & she has a quarter light ginger leg..

Yes get a rescue cat or kitten & introduce them slowly to each other, they will be company for each other when left alone.x

janphoenix51 Luckily there is usually someone at home so hardly get left alone for long but hopefully it gives our cat a playmate.

eyeballkerry ...Yes all cats need a playmate ,we allow Phoenix a night run as we know he comes back ,usually escorted to the back door by his black & white mate!

Topaz sits inside the conservatory looking for them,we don't allow her out after Dinner if we can help it because she would stay out all night whereas Phoenix will come home!

I have walked the streets near where I live in the early hours of the morning & waited up till 5am for Topaz to return home, learnt my lesson there!

My partner was pacing up & down when she stayed out late,or if on a Sleep In,he was ringing or texting me asking if Topaz was home..

So yes Topaz is on a curfew, allowed out till evening but has to be home by a certain time!

Our daughter was less trouble! 😂

janphoenix51 Went out yesterday evening to collect our new kitten but unfortunately I had to come away empty handed. The woman selling them also had tiny kittens wandering around obviously the kitten she was selling us was older than advertised and she had let her cat have two litters one after the other. Plus I asked what she was feeding the kitten to which she replied ‘ they will eat anything, so I just buy the cheapest’. I asked if I could take some food so the kitten would be eating the same until I changed it. I then saw the bag of food. It was adult cat biscuits. I asked for my money back and left.

eyeballkerry ...So sorry you didn't get your little kitten..

Absolutely disgusting the way the woman isn't looking after her cat properly allowing it to have yet more kittens not long after just having a litter.

As for feeding kittens adult cat biscuits a IRRESPONSIBLE woman, not fit to own a pet!

There seems to be a trend of giving pets human names. My neighbour has a cat called Neil. It's quite funny when he calls for it to come back home!

Auntielettie Guilty as charged! We have had Wendy (sadly departed), and have Trudi and a dog called Gilbert. They all suited their names!

My current cat is called Conker but a previous cat I called Engelbert but I got fed up calling that name so just shouted 'Bert' when I wanted him to come in. I must admit I always find human names amusing like 'Tim' or 'Clive' etc for some reason for cats.

Suki is a very common name, I'm often hearing it for cats whilst in the waiting room at the vets.

Luna, Willow, Daisy, Cleo and Skye, although beautiful names are also very popular.

I like human names but more unique than traditional.

Aurora, Ariel, Phoebe, Hope, Darcey, Heidi or Beatrix.

Scarlett, Rosie or Winnie would suit a ginger cat and Olive for a tortoiseshell. 😊

If you like a name but want a female or cat touch, add ette or kins to the end of their name - Bobette, Bobkins 😆

Have you considered reaching out to a rescue? They often have younger cats that those on their website, but they don't always advertise because they want the older ones to find themselves a home first, so they either don't advertise or have a waiting list for those that want kittens. If you take on a cat it may already have a name and you may like it and keep it's name, which they are already used to.
