Are video game degrees worth it?
Some universities are criticized for offering 'Mickey Mouse' degrees like esports, social media and rap music, especially to students who didn’t meet their A-level grades. Are these valuable opportunities or just a way for universities to stay afloat?
I mean to be honest a lot of degrees don’t get you anywhere these days so i don’t see why a degree in video games would be singled out as mickey mouse.
I think that 6th Form Tutors should encourage their pupils to think beyond their chosen Degree subject. An assessment of what employment can be gained from their studies once the Degree is finished is very important.
I can kind of see how a degree in social media would be useful in todays society, as there are a lot of jobs in social media now like marketing etc? However rap music feels like something you dont study you just kind of get into if you're good at it? But I'm no good at it so what do I know hahah
