Tool Box vs. Tool Bag: Which is the Better Option for Your Husband?

Ask a Question

Hello, I'd like to gift my husband a tool box and have zero idea of where to start. There's all sorts of sizes and shapes!

He doesn't have a huge amount of tools, but has an electric screwdriver and bits box, so that ideally would go in the tool box as well, so the box can't be too small. Any help would be appreciated 😁

You could have a look on amazon or temu , they do tool boxes fairly cheap G, then just decide if you want a metal or plastic one , most are plastic now

If it's a birthday gift you could probably buy a not so expensive electric drill and put that inside as a surprise , but it depends if it is for a special occasion or not

If you want a cabinet or tool chest these are a lot more expensive , but more for someone with a large collection of tools

Be careful with temu, they do a lot of smaller sizes , so check they are around 18 inches or more in length and not too short to fit things in

Here's an example of one not to purchase

Maybe have a look on local pages to yourself or online to get something like a personalised one?

Years ago, my father hinted to my mother he would like a tool box for his birthday. My mother told him she didn't have a clue on what to buy - the size, make or whatever. My father told her to give him his birthday money and he would buy a tool box of his choice. And he did. Both parents were very happy with the outcome.

My advice would be to get the largest toolbox you can that he can still comfortably carry to the different jobs around the house and garden. I've seen tradesman have those very large toolboxes with wheels and if you give them a cup of tea they often sit on them as an improvised stool. I think the worst thing to buy is a small toolbox as then the tools just end up not being able to fit and have to be carried separately which is annoying so I would favour larger rather than smaller.

Give him money and let him buy the one he wants, some good ones on Amazon for example
