Considerate thought Ann1984. I agree, this time of year can be very hard for some people.
My husbands granny normally goes to her daughters at Christmas. This year she is going to New Zealand to visit her brother in law. Cue my husband and I offering to come over with our son and host Christmas at my mil house so Granny wouldn't be on her own. Granny friends offered to have her round. My brother in law is going to host Christmas for her as he lives just across the road so means she can stay in her house. She was lucky that she has loads of people around her.
Christmas can be really tough for people and anything we can do to make it less lonely for them is a must.
Yep I have no family. I hate Christmas.
No money either. Chronically ill so can't work so I struggle everyday and Christmas is just the worst
all I do is stare at a screen as I don’t get out of the house so yeah I’ll be doing the same as everyday at Christmas. My iPad doesn’t make me less lonely though..
I just hate that time of year, everyday is bad enough by Christmas is the worst
ukheather sorry to hear this there is a woman local who is house bound and have meals on wheels but sadly that’s not available on xmas day sad so every year you see her pop up on local selling sites asking for a dinner the amount of offers she gets is lovely last year she spent it with a lovely family
I think too much emphasis is put on loneliness at Christmas, the people who are lonely at Christmas are just as lonely the rest of the year.
I also think people confuse "being on own" with "being lonely" I am on my own much of the time, but never "lonely". When I'm "on my own" I'm in good company!
It's great to have you back, David.
Hopefully you will be sharing some more riddles and word puzzles with us again at some point.
I may sound really selfish but I would be prefer to be on my own at Christmas but have a large family so is a real stressful time keeping everyone happy.
I sometimes say: "I'd rather be on my own, than not be on my own, wishing I was on my own". To explain to some who think being on own is worse than being in the middle of family feuds and fall outs, overall Christmas is more stressful for those who aren't on their own, many of whom can't wait for the new year, when the solicitors' offices are open again, and they can start divorce proceedings.
It is actual FACT that divorce proceedings starting in early January are more numerous than at any other time of the year.
It perhaps might sound selfish... but who cares!
