How to Look after Sea-Monkeys
Ask a Question
My daughter recently purchased sea-monkeys and they are all grew. But unfortunately all died apart from the pregnant one. It gave birth and then died. The new ones grew but after playing piggy back rides they all died. Any advice please?
What are you keeping them in? And they normally only live for about a year when I had mine I kept a light in them in the day to keep the water warm cleaned them out every so often and kept putting bottle water in just to top it up we had ours for about 6 months till they all died
Leannexxx We upgraded to a bigger tank. Kept the water at the correct temperature and put the tank on a windowsill in the sun. We even purchased a turkey baster to give more air, this was a tip online. Maybe the water temperature got below their desired temperature.
Leannexxx My daughter is thinking about getting some very small crabs to go
In the tank
eyeballkerry great idea I've just looked up what we had and it was aqua dragons honestly look the same but a little bigger
I didn't think they were suppose to be in direct sunlight.
When I was young, my brother was gifted some.
We read all the instructions and stuck to the guidelines, feeding regularly, some were thriving, others not so much.
My neighbour's kid got some when they saw ours and he left his on the window sill and forgot all about them, when they went back the tank was overflowing with them, they were living off their own algae and thriving, they had to change the tank to a much bigger one. I don't actually know what happened to them in the end
We recently bought our nephews some which didn't last but only because the parents had other priorities (it was my partners idea, I knew we should have asked the parents first )
DeBunny They were doing really well in the small original tank but we thought they needed more space. They had algae and were fed once a week. It was when they moved tank it seemed to go wrong after about a week.
eyeballkerry if you are going to get anymore, have you considered, separating them, keeping them in their original tank but getting another one, the same, so it keeps the same temperature, bacteria etc might be better in the tank you get them in, maybe the acrylic of the tank is better for them. Worth a try. Fingers crossed they thrive.
kevanstewart Yes they are brine shrimp but actually when we start looking after them and google about them they are quite fascinating. Or maybe that’s just me. They have eleven pairs of legs and swim upside down.
