Madeleine McCann New Search

In the News

I’m sure we have all seen the recent news about the new search in Portugal this week. What are everyone’s thoughts? I heard they aren’t actually looking for her but more for evidence is this true?

I’m not sure what to think really, it’s been over 15 years and I get that the public and, the family especially, want to know what happened but I can’t help but think the money could be spent elsewhere for greater benefit

jms19 I heard today that over 16 million has been spent by the UK government it just makes me wonder why so much effort isn’t put into every missing child. Obviously it’s not possible but who decides which children get this much money

joceeree Yeah exactly, that's one of the rubbish things in life, there isn't enough money for everyone to get this extensive search. It's hard talking about it because obviously in an ideal world every missing person would get this but in reality that can't happen.

The offender in prison who they think it was frequented the area around the time she went missing sentence is coming to an end. They need to find evidence to keep him in. Committed other offences. I know it’s a long time ago and a lot of money but she does deserve to be found.

JLouM absolutely she deserves to be found and even if she was murdered she needs to be laid to rest properly but it is sad that not every missing child gets the attention she has got

Yes I read that are looking for evidence Madeleine might of been in the area there searching. It's a place the main suspect went to very often. I hope in some way that there don't find anything but then again I hope there do as the family need to know what happened to Madeleine. It's been too long now.

Hmm I don't think they will find anything myself it's been too long I mean I hope they do but I can't see it

Leannexxx I wondered how anything would still be findable after so many years. I heard they were looking for fabric but surely that would have decomposed by now

I heard they've taken some items out from the waters for investigation.

I have been avoiding the news about it a bit if I'm honest. Having children it's too horrible to think, unlike her parents we stay in with our kids in evenings on holiday children are precious

Imnotcheap I agree. My son was only a toddler himself when she went missing and he’s turning 18 this year and is expecting a baby. Makes me sad to think madeleine hasn’t had the same milestones and memories to share with her family

As a parent I don't think they'll ever stop searching, in hope of finding answers. I wouldn't.

Not wanting to sound calous but people go missing everyday. I can't understand how this has stayed at the forefront of the news for quite so long!

I’m just surprised that Kate McCann wrote a book, there are some things families should be discrete about and not seek publicity. I refuse to read it.

Never understood why the parents refused police interviews and flew out of Portugal as soon as possible. Not saying they did anything wrong but it was certainly odd reaction to a missing child. It would be great to resolve this mystery finally and this guy in German prison could be the perpertrator given his history and suspected presence in the area at the time.

She is still a missing person so understandable they're still doing what they can. If she is alive, she must be of age now/soon. Hopefully she'll follow the trend and take a DNA test to eventually be matched to her family.

Consumer she would be 21 now which is crazy to think. I do sometimes wonder if she is out there somewhere and sees the news articles and has no idea it is her

joceeree - Stale news rehashed for the last 15 years. I stopped reading about Madeleine McCann ten years ago. But it is a good tourist attraction news for their economy.

Personally I think they need to stop looking now. Why are they putting so much money into 1 missing child from 15 years ago. They don’t do it for anyone else so what makes this child so special 🤷‍♀️ I mean they could have spent that 18 million on so much more

TracyStorrie you’ve said what many have thought so well done for being brave. Lots of people go missing every year and are never found.

And to think this would never have happened if they didn't leave the kids on their own. I don't mean to be nasty or anything. My mum would never have left us alone.
