Here is another example of the government forcing us to switch to green energy and someone ending up with something costing more than five times the cost of conventional heating to buy , and more than double the cost to run
This home owner got a government grant of £5,000 towards a pump system to replace his gas central heating and hot water system
With installation before the grant it cost £27,000 in total and he estimates his bill for the month could be £1,000, but less in the summer months
At least two of his neighbours face similar costs
The same is happening with the other 'green' government scheme, the electric car
Conventional cars are being forced off the road and the EV is hailed as the saviour, with supposedly cheaper running costs
Now besides having to pay treble the cost of a conventional vehicle in some cases to buy an EV, and with electricity charging costs skyrocketing , plus the government adding additional road taxes for EV owners, it turns out it will be more expensive to own and run an EV than a petrol or diesel vehicle
People are being hoodwinked into these schemes with false promises so it seems

I thought it was fairly well known that the running costs of these 'things' was extortionate. Not to mention that they are really noisy too!
A quick look shows Midea are a Chinese manufacturing company so the UK government is borrowing money to pay for imported Chinese heat pumps and further damage our economy and add more debt. It staggers the mind the stupidity of politicians in this country. Something like £3k a year is being paid by every working person to just pay the interest on our debts. It's clear the no.1 priority is to return to a trading surplus and this can be achieved in many ways. It clearly doesn't work as intended either. It's just economic madness.

Green as in cash than environment. This whole "green" agenda is just to extract more money from people.
The EU plans on adding a Carbon Tax and that's what it is, a tax. A scam tax at that.
Canada has already started rolling out Carbon Tax for their citizens. Shameful.

you don't have to go down heat pump route or buy an electric car, when they become compulsry just don't have a car. life is as simple as you make it. same as smart meters the only benefit the company they can cut you off or put you on pay as you go if you run in to money trouble without even having to come into your home now. plus when enough have them the surge pricing will come in. i choose not to have one.
Antiwoke The greenest thing is to keep your old car but use it less, perhaps walk or cycle as much as possible. Poor people are the most environmentally friendly people, they often buy secondhand, they buy cheaper food, they don't holiday abroad and they likely nowadays wear more clothes rather than turn on the heating. The idea that people regularly buying new cars often super heavy SUV EVs that are imported and also spending their money on a foreign holidays etc can be in someway environmentally friendly is just a ridiculous notion and utterly stupid. In the media its often presented it seems to me that somehow the middle income people are doing the right thing by following government green incentives but really its just a farce that makes zero environmental sense.
I’m so pleased I eventually chose a conventional gas replacement boiler last year keeping my airing cupboard. We seriously considered a heat pump but when the engineer said the whole house would need new pipes and radiators I convinced my husband that carpets and tiled floors would need changing. I believed the hype saying green and saving money after the initial outlay.
