McDonalds Fined £475,000 after Mouse Dropping Found in Cheeseburger Wrapper
In the News
This customer in East London was definitely not 'lovin' it' when she found mouse droppings in her burger wrapper half way through eating it
And she didn't even know about the decomposing mouse left on top of a mophead in their kitchen
If this doesn't make you want to become a vegetarian then i don't know what does
They were fined £475,000 for violating food hygiene laws, but if i was the customer that got the extra in her cheeseburger i would be taking them to court myself, who knows what illnesses she may have or could have had through their negligence

Yuck. Not a massive maccy d's fan at the best of times. I'm not shocked at all. It's disgusting but I'm not shocked. Covid has meant people haven't been allowed to go do inspections, there's been ridiculous amount of extra rules to follow so a combination of the both means in some areas things have got slack. Either that or this particular branch the staff are just disgusting or don't care enough cos they aren't paid enough
Jerseydrew I think i was more disgusted seeing the thick concealed fat below the preparation table than hearing about the mouse droppings J, no wonder they have mice and rats there
I used to work at a Restaurant and a Supermarket and you would be surprised to see what goes on. Disgusting to be honest with you. I have not been to a Mcdonalds for ages. Dont rate their food anyways. All these fast food chains are a total rip off and dirty.
Disgusting. These kind of incidents are so common (like live maggots falling through the ceiling of a McDonald's...) - I'll continue not eating from these kind of fast food places!
So gross, I really don't understand how anyone works in these restaurants and don't report issues!
telmel If Mc Donald's fired them for it, you'd be able to get them on unfair dismissal and probably make quite alot of £££ out of it. Thank fully most chefs and restaurants I have worked with have had good standards. I've only ever met one truly bad chef that would feed you from the bin and he got caught and fired. I don't think I'll be eating Mc Donald's for a while though.
Midnightflower I am not sure how the job market works today M , but i expect any confrontation would go on record when applying for future jobs
A pay out could be possible if unfairly dismissed, but then you have to balance this against other discriminations
I know things should not be like this , and as i say i am not up to date with current practices so i could be wrong, but it could be a reason why nobody tends to speak up when they see bad hygiene
Midnightflower I agree with you. But I suspected all the staff were beyond spiteful or unbelievable naive to think they could all get away with doing this.
telmel I'm not sure on the legal side either so it's hard to say. It just baffles me that anyone could stand by and let food be sold like it. Maybe it's due to the high volumes of staff and the fact there not actually chefs, so they aren't so fussed about the customers.
jam45 there is certainly something wrong with them, I wonder if any of them ate food there. I'd ended up getting fired
Midnightflower Possibly could be M , these large food chains have their own rules unlike normal restaurants
Not surprisEd. I know how a lot of food places operate, particularly from friends who used to work in the fast food chains when I was younger…
I think people buy things, drop in nasties and then phone the press. It happens so much these days.
