Would you live in this Mushroom House , it's No Toadstool ?
In the News
I think this is one of the quaintest houses i have ever seen
If you are looking for a holiday home in Italy then this could be ideal for a couple
The town of Bardineto is famous for its porcini mushrooms , hence Mario de Bernardi decided to build these houses in the1960s and 70s in this style
It is also known as Il Villagio dei Puffi” or Smurf Village because they had similar houses in the Smurf programme , if you are old enough to remember
This particular house is for sale at £94,800 , not a bad price for something so unique
I could definitely 'grow' to like this , people would think i was a 'fun guy' if i owned it
Wow I'd live in one of these just cos its different. I'd just be worried about tourists annoying me
Jerseydrew That's one problem the residents are experiencing J
But you could turn it to your advantage
If you are a bit of an entrepreneur you could offer tours of your house, maybe with a drink and charge the visitors, offer food like mushroom soup, even print off some photos or make some memorabilia to sell
With a bit of imagination you could make a nice little business out of it , even rent it out if you didn't want to live there
I’d love to live there, it’s quirky but also seems fairly spacious. Wonder if it heats well
jms19 According to this article yes J , it says in the write up there is a wood burner installed
And you could play the smurf song full blast with great sound quality because of the acoustics and annoy the neighbours
A round building will need up to 20% less materials, which can make these houses less expensive to build, depending on design. A round house is also sturdier, easier to keep warm, and has better acoustics than a square house
telmel - Looks off putting to me. No amount of money would I rent or buy this nonsense. No wonder the present owner have got some common sense to get rid of it.
jam45 I am not so sure J, it is advertised on facebook as well as a lot of other websites, and all the comments seem positive , it would probably suit someone retired if wanting to live there permanent
And it's only 80 miles to Turin
Heres a link to an estate agent
It says ''Owned by 6,000 square meters of surrounding land '' , i think that is the 1.5 acres mentioned in the article , so a fair bit of land coming with the property
I think it looks awesome and I can't believe it's so cheap. It could make a great holiday home which you could rent out when your not there.
Midnightflower Exactly M, i noticed in the advert it even says it has air conditioning, so you are covered for the summer with a wood burner for the winter
I think the estate agent should be giving me commission with all the praise i am giving it
