Netflix Cheaper Option with Ads
Money Saving
From November a new Netflix plan will be available for £4.99 p/m but with ads.
Could be a good money saver!
I will need to look into this. I don't mind having to watch ads, especially if it is going to save me money. My husband watches Netflix everyday so this would be good for us.
MrsCraig You might not be aware of it but there are many sites that allow you to watch films with ads without any charge whatsoever, This will give you more details.editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/fresh-movies-you-can-watch-for-free-online-right-now/
I notice Amazon prime have many films (usually chargeable) that can be watched free if you watch ads,
Welk worth looking into, ads are tolerable before and after hope not in-between Thanks for sharing
I watch some US channels streaming services using a VPN and the adverts can be more intrusive than typically shown over here. Sometimes you go straight into them and you don't realise its not part of the actual show. Then 5 minutes later another advert. I guess to make them difficult to avoid. Over here you get nice tea breaks where you can have a brew when the adverts come on. For those who use netflix probably worth trying but maybe you will find it more annoying than you expected. Of course on live tv with an aerial or satellite with a PVR you can just skip the adverts when you playback the recording later but I can't do that as I don't have a tv license.
BonzoBanana sadly that’s how American telly schedules their adverts. Rather than a three minute break in the middle of a half-hour show, they’ll do maybe 5 one-minute breaks dotted around within an episode. I watch US tv too on apps like Redbox.
BonzoBanana U.S. TV love pushing insurance, credit score, and health ads as much as possible while U.K. does similarly, but I noticed they favor gambling ads for some reason.
Live TV is just trashy these days, I'd rather watch VoD instead.
Great idea considering the cost of living crisis, I'm sure many will find it more affordable.
Midnightflower If money is that tight to them they'd just use free streaming services like YouTube, Pluto TV, Tubi, radio, etc.
I use a modified version of YouTube on my Android devices and never have to bother with ads.
Yeah I think we pay for the full price and we pay like 7.99 through the sky bill my wife pays it sort of thing
Better advice would be to sign up with Netflix in a country where the rates are much cheaper, Argentina, for example (use VPN when signing up). Then watch in your own country (and depending on which country you watch, you probably get the content which is available in that country but I am not 100% sure).
I think I’ll wait to hear from friends how long the adverts are on for and if like itv during programs.
This is def not for me. Can’t stand adverts. I never even watch live tv if there are ads. Everything is recorded so I can fast forward through the ads
TracyStorrie Yep me too. Record all programmes and then can fast forward all the rubbish even the footie when players go down and it takes forever to get them sorted. Best way x
kayradford exactly. My time is precious. Don’t want to waste it watching adverts
LauraBaile94436 Turkey's Netflix subscription ad-free costs around £4ish per month.
The U.K. ad price is surprisingly still cheaper than the U.S. which is $7 (not including tax). $7 is approximately £6.26.
PhilipMarc I was paying 9.99 a month and it was always the same things on it so cancelled it a while ago now only do it when there's something we really want to see
Im not a Netflix customer, and probably wont ever be, but I did find it funny that when Nadine Dorries was explaining her reasoning behind the privatisation of Channel 4, she explained it would free them up and help make them as successful as Netflix. Within the week Netflix had announced huge losses, millions of less customers, making staff redundancies and cancelling quite a few programs. (She then went on to complain about all the public money that went into Channel 4 before someone pointed out they were entirely advert funded so it did show up her spectacular lack of knowledge on the subject.) I guess though that this new cheaper tariff might keep a few customers on service for them...
I cannot stand ads so this isn't for me, but a good way to save a bit of money for people who don't mind ads
