New: Bonus Points Available for Great Comments!
News
Hey guys,
We launched the point system to reward our amazing members for contributing to the community - whether that’s by liking posts, commenting, reporting expired deals or anything else!
We’re excited to say today that we’ve added in a new incentive for writing awesome comments - if your comment gets three or more likes you’ll get awarded 20 bonus points
What’s an awesome comment?
- A helpful comment answering a member's question
- Something insightful. Say someone posts a deal for a lawnmower you already own - comment with whether it’s good (or bad!)
- Something funny that makes people laugh!
- Or just something that’s popular with the members of Latest Deals!
In an effort to make the points system clear we’ve created a new one-stop-resource for all things points. You can access it here: https://www.latestdeals.co.uk/points
The new points page shows
- What you can earn points for
- If there are any limits to how many points you can earn in a day
- The rewards you get for earning points
- Your point history - explaining where points came from (or, occasionally, went to!)
Good luck on your quest for awesome comments and we hope you enjoy this new way of earning points
I think this sounds interesting & I hope this leads to helpful comments etc not into debates on people's posts. For example if someone had posted a deal for something in the Sun newspaper people won't start commenting with their own personal views on the newspaper and still focus on the deal itself.
Mrmac lol You got yer 250 points
Yes mr mac "you were one point away from bonus points" with my like!
lol
SandyRhodes TBH that sounds like trying to censor comments, which I'm guessing isn't the point. Also many, many people have strong views on The Sun for good reason.
Great thank you it will get me closer to the 5,000 Mark. With the new point's. Thank you so much.
Fantastic thanks. Just had a read, very easy to understand
Hopefully it'll get people chatting more
That's neat. Hopefully it'll make folks construct better comments than just 'Thank you' or 'Hi'. Not saying that person may or may not be thankful for it but adding a bit more of context wouldn't hurt.
This is a fab idea with a great incentive to keep building your points. It's a great friendly site where such good people share with each other fantastic bargains and savings that they discover, so lots of people from all walks of life, can come together and share the savings. I've had some fantastic bargains and freebies, that I would never have known about, if I hadn't joined this site. With the extra advantage of earning points for Amazon vouchers, for my account...brill.
Do I read that right, how long have you been doing this?
I'll never make it at my age - 79! Haha
UrsulaDias lol yep, you don’t need to get an eye test just yet I’m actually on 164 217 but having passed the last few, tough hurdles, it won’t take long (I’ve been on here since the start)
just watch out for those extra extra opportunities to get more points, like the bounty challenges that pop up now and again - that usually bumps up the points quickly
as long as you enjoy the journey, you’ll breeze through
Wow, This is great news. I love LatestDeals. I'm on here so many times a day looking for bargains and freebies. Thank You
Hopefully people won’t be fabricating comments just to get points as ‘Points make.....oh what do they make ? Prizes?
Excellent stuff, this is a great way to increase the friendly banter on here, which can only be a good thing
It's nice to show appreciation to others. Just a pity when you post a competition and hundreds enter and only a few make an effort to thank you. It take a second to click enter - what about giving us a thank you
Lovely idea & very nice way to reward people that put effort into commenting!
Hopefully this will make people pay more attention to comments in future and make the community a bit closer! x
Great article and a good reminder as to how those points can soon tot up. Points my prizes of course and we all love that...
Users chit chattin' and just discussin' is one of the areas which HUKD reigns over but hopefully this incentive changes things. Not just because there's a reward but in general.
Fellas at that site talked about getting a tip and LD offers that so they might be interested in joining.
"First come, first served." imagine if I LD had been the first over HUKD.
Love this idea! I love talking to people on the chat section and hearing about the prizes/freebies that they have gotten and getting advice from others and being able to give advice too (if I can).
It's a good idea but flawed. Once people get the boat moving, this shouldn't be necessary anymore as the amount of likes a comment gets is impractical. On Twitter/Facebook/YouTube someone can write a single word and get hundreds/thousands or millions of likes so this takes me back to the perspective quantity vs quality. A slippery slope, that is.
Great initiative to get people talking on here but it's not being done naturally but rather there may be a reward.
Am i right in thinking this has changed t the 5 points you used to get for a like and comment?
