Off on Holiday Tomorrow, How Early Do You Get to the Airport for Your Flight?
Ask a Question
Not actually flying tomorrow but getting picked up from the airport by coach to take us to Southampton to join the cruise ship. Even so we are getting to the airport earlier than necessary due to road works. Do you get to the airport early or do you leave it late and have to run to the gate?!
Just the adequate amount, don't like staying there waiting for too long.
Wouldn't want to be like them at night:
PhilipMarc Not fun when you’re stranded at an airport. I find a lot of airports in Europe have very little to occupy the traveller.
Always early, usually 3or so hours before the flight. On 1 occasion abroad I only left 2 hrs and was met with the traffic from hell, so could’ve missed my flight…and then I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I received a text apologising that my flight was going to be delayed by an hour. I will now always get to the airport early early
hspexy We had to take our daughter to the airport a while back, left early enough. On route we said what terminal at Gatwick, north or south. She replied I am going from Stansted! Luckily she made the flight.
Less early now that there is online check in but I usually still leave a couple of hours spare so that i don’t miss the flight.
Where are you going on your cruise?
jms19 I think you need that spare time then less stress. We are off to Madeira first then across the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Fly back from Barbados.
Enjoy your cruise. The ship only waits for passengers if they’ve booked their transfer via the cruise line. Once we were late leaving port because a coach was held up on the motorway and it was a ships one.
At least 3hrs. We have found security queues in the past have been mental. I’d rather arrive early and browse shops
PayItForward Don't you always find though that when you leave plenty of time for security you sail through, but when it's tight you are waiting for ages.
I went to Oslo last month, took an hour to get through passport control on the way out, so got to Oslo Airport with hours to spare coming home - and was through security and passport control in about 10 minutes.
Yeah we always get to the airport at least 2/3 hours before check-in, just in case anything happens on the way
I’ve recently come back from holiday, got a lift to and from airport. I usually arrive 2.5-3 hours before like you’re supposed to.
Usually get there about 3 hours before, check in and then go and have a meal and drink before flight.
Airport 1 an hour before. Main airport usually night before and stay at the airport hotels. Joys of travelling from where we live we have to add extra days on either side
