How Often Do You Call in Sick?
Ask a Question
How often do you call in sick to work?
The average number of sick days has almost doubled from 3.7 to 6.7 in the last 6 years.
I am only off work if my son is ill. He had impetigo so I was off for 2 weeks. Normally it is just a day or two when he is ill but I don't take days off when I'm ill.
MrsCraig What's the worst illness you think you have had to work through?
SamGoodship when I had blood poisoning. I was on antibiotics and only took 2 days off, shouldn't have gone in but didn't want to let work down.
Well the only time i had off work in the last 7 years was 10 days isolation period for covid. I never call in sick unless i 100% cannot work
SamGoodship 4 maybe, and that's mostly really epic migraines. Work in a care home and the lights and sounds just aren't doable when they're that bad
I’ve had 1 in the 5 years I’ve been at my current job. I really did have either flu or covid and was really unwell with it.
In the 12 years I have been with the company I work for I have had 1 day off sick and that's because a HGV driver hit me on the motorway I did not feel great after that. I have been unwell but for me not enough to miss work. My previous jobs in total can probably count on one hand and that's over best part of 30 years I guess.
I was sent home early and to hospital where I had fallen down the stairs and broke my foot, still went in (without knowing) as had my area manager and regional manager due to visit me, they took me to get x-rays etc and took me home
I think i have had about three days in the last ten years. As for covid there were a few days when I wouldn't have been fit for work in an office but still carried on working from home. We were told not too - but hate letting my team down.
I only ever had sick days if I was truthfully unwell, in my younger days though that was different .
I have never called in sick. I have worked through it, struggled yes, but got the job done.
I now run a small business and if I’m ill I just work through it. I absolutely hate letting people down
