One of the Worlds Cheapest Countries Where £3 Buys You Beer and a Meal
In the News
We are all trying to save money, and one of the biggest expenses is holidays
So when i saw this article about Uzbekistan i was quite impressed
Not only is it ridiculously cheap to stay in hotels, the food and drink is a fraction of the price we pay , and the bread looks amazing
There are loads of street markets where you can pick up bargains, for example a large litre bottle of fresh pomegranate juice is just 30p , half a kilo of cherries for around 80p , you can buy pure silk outfits for around £11
And the food is very healthy, the fresh salads look delicious
Besides cost saving , the country has amazing architecture and history going back hundreds of years ,and the people are very friendly , and they enjoy speaking English, and another bonus is it is relatively safe there with little crime
It was not a place i ever considered going , but i am definitely thinking about going there some time in the future
If you click on the link in the article it shows a 30 minute video of someones experience there

Doesn't it make you wonder why one country can charge so much for products that are very reasonable in other parts of the world? There has to be a lot of profiteering going on.... The bigger question would be - How do their prices in Uzbekistan compare to their wages?
tumblespots that's the first thing I thought of. Wages must be low in comparison to such cheap prices or they would all be very affluent.
tumblespots Its hard to discern T, i suspect it is pretty much the same as in some other poorer countries, maybe not as bad as India for example
The people seem fairly happy and they love tourists
Here is a table showing wages, again a bit difficult to assess
Oh wow I will defo look into this tho I don’t understand that if the prices are that fantastic why it isn’t a popular holiday destination?
SaveMeSunday Some people shy away from unknown countries and cultures S and tend to stick to the popular holiday resorts
Unfortunately they do not have beaches but they have a huge number of the world's most beautiful lakes, natural and artificial reservoirs and large rivers
I do love to travel and especially off the beaten track but not sure on this one. I had a bit of search but really need to do some more, they say it is safe. We all thought Rhodes and corfu where safe.
eyeballkerry We are battling global warming E unfortunately , nowhere is safe in reality , even here with flooding
eyeballkerry Rhodes & Corfu are very safe. Their ”first-world” services will deal with the fires; remember 90% of visitors in Rhodes continue to enjoy their visit.

eyeballkerry well when they say safe in this sense they mean the crime rate is low, rhodes & corfu were natural occurrences.
telmel The chances of flooding where I live are very slim as we are 407ft above sea level. Areas around us tend to flood but we do more fog than surrounding areas.
richardunderhil I appreciate the Greek islands are generally safe. Unfortunately as they were dealing with fires a plane crashed killing two. Very sad.
The thing Is the wages are very very low so taking a Holiday there Is even better. If you went to any low paid destination with a few quid you would be treated like a King or Queen. The UK Is definitely a rip off place like Staycation for an example. I doubt the Councils would cash In on you too If you rented a Car out there and parked up for the day to shop or visit that particular place.
