How to Make Outdoor Furniture Cushions Waterproof?

I have an outdoor sofa, which is made for outdoors but I don't bring the cushions on when it rains as I'm not always home etc. Has anyone ever waxed or sprayed one to help waterproof the cushions. Any help is appreciated, thanks Tom
You can buy waterproof cushions, Dunelm have a good range that are not too pricey or you could try waterproof fabric spray, not used it on cushions but have to re- waterproof clothing, it's about £7-8
beccatavender theses are the actually cushions which make the sofa though, not like add-on ones!
Tomp23 I thought they might be, which was why I suggested the waterproofing spray, it may offer some protection. The other alternative is to get into the habit of putting them away when not in use
