Do You Take Your Own Hangers on Holiday?

Ask a Question

My husband laughs every time I pack our cases for holiday. I organise day and evening outfits onto hangers, and pack everything on the hangers in the cases. I’m sick of getting 4 hangers on holiday for a fortnights worth of clothes for two people! Surely I’m not the only one that does this! Lol

martinlufc5637 ahhhh I couldn’t cope with that lol. I must admit, my husband can live out of the suitcase - but I like everything hung up. I steam everything when I arrive, and then I just lift what I need as I need it

It's out of the suitcase for me

I used to take hangers but they either ended up broken or just took up too much space, especially now with all the luggage restrictions

Most hotels will provide you with extra hangers if you ask at reception i have found as with anything else you need, if they are a good hotel

Just out of curiosity i looked to see if you can buy collapsible hangers, and you can on Temu , amazon are slightly more expensive for the same if you work out the price per hanger

telmel I have tried the collapsible hangers in the past, but I found they are way too small. They would be suitable for kids clothes, but not adults. Thank you though ♥️

Same as others for me also, just out of the suitcase. Make sure they're ironed etc prior to going and placed them all out day by day

I don't take hangers but I do hang things up or in the case of OH put things in clear bags with day of use on a piece of paper inside otherwise he'd have worn everything in the first three days.

PayItForward His brain goes into holiday mode (no laundry) and he never thinks to put the same tee shirt on for dinner that he had on for breakfast. He's not like that at home!

I don't go on holidays anymore, but when I did, no I didn't take coat hangers. It's a good idea to take a few though.

I don't take any. If I was taking something particularly fancy like an evening dress or a suit or something I may consider it though x

I have never packed coat hangers, never thought too, not enough room for them anyway. I have to say I don't know anyone who packs hangers in their suitcase. It's a great idea, just not one I've heard of before.

PayItForward Ah yeah that makes sense and buying hangers on holiday could be a hassle depending on where you are choosing to take a vacation. I just wouldn't have the space for them

jms19 we are only going for a week. If it was two weeks, there’s no way we‘d have room for this holiday. We are only getting a hold bag each and small cabin bag. We are used to taking small suitcases onto the cabin as well. We didn’t organise the holiday this time as we are going in a group, so one of our friends have planned everything. When it’s our turn again, it will be a different airline with more luggage lol

No I just use what is provided. A few important outfits and the rest still in suitcase or drawers if available.

No, it’s a waste of space. I bring an entire line with clips these days - always need extra space to hang clothes

hspexy oh what’s the line with clips? That sounds interesting. I agree, there is very little space for hanging

I always complain there are not enough hangers but weirdly it's never occurred to me to pack some. Will do now though. If everyone took a few cheap metal ones and left them behind it would go a long way to making a stay better for the next people.

Auntielettie yes this is my feeling too! And they always supply anti theft hangers. I’ve always wondered who would want to nick hotel hangers lol

I find if you roll your clothes together when you pack it doesn't get creased. So think and plan ahead what you want to wear each day so that your 1st days clothes are on the outside of the roll and so on 😄 simples!

I've got a blow-up hanger type thing that I can hang a blouse or jacket etc on and then attach my hairdryer to it to get any creases out. Put clothes on the hanger in the shower room as you get ready (help creases drop out), then a quick blast with the hairdryer inside the hanger thingy and Bob's your uncle!

Before you all ask, I can't remember what the thingy is called, or where I bought it from, but I will look to see if I can find out and will update 😉

mudgesheila50 good tips here! I take my clothes steamer with me and quickly run the steamer over the clothes when they are hung up 😂

PayItForward Its great for my husband but I do get a bit annoyed when I have struggled to pack due to lack of room and find out when we arrive somewhere he would have have load of extra space if he hadn’t packed them!

I travel light so the ones supplied in the hotel are usually sufficient.

No. To me that’s just extra baggage to take. I do unpack but have everything folded up and use the hangers that are there

The first thing I do after I check in, is ask for more hangers and also so you get normal hangers as well as those one you can take out/move around are a pain. I will have at least 14 dresses on a 7 night trip so they all need hanging. All hotels have obliged with no issue when asked.

I take the small hangers that bras come on from home for my bras and bikini tops.
