Paris is Infested with Rats , Would You Still Go There on Holiday ?
Other
Paris has always had a rat problem throughout the centuries
Indeed it has been quoted as the fourth most rat-ridden city in the world
In fact the bubonic plague was caused by the rats , and it seems no better now than then
The question is would you settle down to a breakfast of croissant with jam at an outside cafe knowing ratatouille might be scurrying around your feet ?
FearLoathing Same here F, i went to paris in the 80's by car , traffic was bad then and rear ended someone taboot
I remember going to Naples a few years ago when they had no refuse collection and huge rat infestation. I didn’t see one rat!
Jinky67 The parisian rats are big J and there are more than many other places, except 3 others
Here are the ratings, we are in the top 3
Are there more rats in London or Paris?
Paris is, in fact, the fourth most-rat-infested city in the world, after Deshnoke in India, London and New York, with more resident rodents (six million) than human (2.1 million) living there.Jun 10, 2023
Easy to say Paris ranks 4th when London is above it. I've been to London many times and never seen a rat there either
Rats are everywhere but need to be kept under control . Where my friend lives they have had a terrible Rat problem for a few years now, brought about by the demolishing of an old steel works and demolition of some other old industrial buildings in the area, the site is being used for new housing, but the rats have migrated inwards to the existing town and houses surrounding it.
Mango4They have giant ones in Glasgow now M

Feral cats normally keep rat numbers down. Domesticated cats I guess have a more take it or leave it approach it depends on how strong their hunting instinct is. Rats will obviously survive where cats don't go though like sewers. Where I live I have never seen a rat but then there are cats everywhere. I see plenty of foxes and badgers at night though.
I did post recently about feral cats and fleas B about 5 pages back , that are caught from mice or rats
The ingested fleas can lead to ringworm in the feral cats
So rats not only affect humans, as in the bubonic plague , but also cats indirectly
Out of sight, out of mind but if I saw one then no I wouldn’t stay. I’ve done Paris quite a few times in my younger days so don’t need to return. I think rats are always near though aren’t they? As long as they are not encouraged hopefully they stay away from us.
I would if I won a free Eurostar ticket but many other places I'd rather go.It's seriously over rated.I got robbed on the metro there once as well and ripped off outside the Sacre Couer so not really my favorite place although I had some fun times there on a school trip years ago.
We enjoyed our visit to Paris,so easy to get everywhere, drivers are a nightmare, the number of cars we saw with dents in!
Been to Paris twice, never saw a rat thank god but saw loads of bags of rubbish piled up!
You get rats everywhere to be honest. For the most part you won't see a rat. If you see rats hanging around then you know there's problems
I would go but last year I stopped off there for a few hours whilst traveling home and I would say it was not like I had remembered it at all. Outside of the eurostar station was pretty dirty and chaotic.
If my husband knew this, he definitely wouldn’t go as he is terrified of the things. We stayed at a villa once in Portugal and he saw a rat. We were moved to another villa.
I've never heard anything good about Paris so wouldn't go anyway. Besides we have the odd rat in our garden as we back onto fields - rats are everywhere!
