Pensioners Bins Couldnt Be Collected Due to Frozen Lids, Any Better Excuses ?
Ask a Question
We are used to this type of excuse from railway companies, trains delayed or cancelled because of leaves on the line or too much snow falling etc , but now it seems the councils are using their own excuses for not emptying your bins
This pensioner was told the bins couldnt be emptied because the lids were frozen shut !!!
Full marks for inventiveness
When he went outside to see for himself he just needed a slight pull up to open it , and he wasn't Arnold schwarzenegger by any means
Besides the bin wagons are automated , they lift the bins and slam them into the recepticle, the bin lids don't stand a chance of staying shut
What excuses have you been given by the council for them not doing their job ?

Omg really?! How ridiculous! J bet it's a case of trying slightly and not putting effort in to get down quickly
When our bins are frozen, our bin men /wonman just bang the side of the bin to loose the lids
Jackscot Yeah that's common sense isn't it. Seems like their just making an excuse for not being bothered to empty the bin. Maybe they get to go home when they've finished their rounds so were trying to just get off a bit early but it's not fair on people, especially since they pay for the service with council tax.
Someone should invent bin warmers M to keep the little fellas cosy
Or they could do aerobics
Where I live the loaders always checks the bins before they are on the kerbside as I watch them. They open the bins first and If they are half full they transfer from one bin to the other. So In theory they have to crack open the frozen lid to check. We pay enough Council Tax for waste collection, so Its their job to empty them. There are some lazy people out there If they cant be bothered to uncrack a frozen bin.
How can I put this, ’ that’s complete rubbish’. Our bin men are pretty good in our area. If the lid is open a bit they will take the bin. If boxes are left next to the bin they take them as well.
