Police to Use Knife Gate at Southend Train Station

In the News

Earlier this week Tik Tok announced a party at Southend on Sea and teenagers flocked expecting fun. Instead hundreds arrived some brandishing machetes. This weekend Police have introduced knife gates at Southend train station. Do you think they have gone far enough?

It's not like the police can really control this fact is they can't stop and search every kid

Leannexxx It just gives us a little hope that they are doing something, rather than just turning up after the trouble starts.

I guess it may have a deterrent, although I'd have preferred if they hadn't advertised they were doing it before hand.

blacklabrador I totally agree, but it's blatantly visable to locals and teenagers do love to share pictures over social media so they would find out very quickly regardless of it being announced through the news channels.

I really don’t understand the mentality of people carrying knives and machetes! I also have no idea of what is a knife gate?

Pjran knife is the singular of knives. It is a tool or implement for cutting or stabbing.

It doesn't help that the chances of being imprisoned are slim due to overcrowding and the extreme lack of prison space. Six spaces at most in any one prison for some time now which are used for the worst or selective imprisonment. The police as we know are long due for an overhaul, from history we can see how different forms of policing have been introduced so there is no argument for it not being possible to do again. As for the government they have been self destructive for far too long and rely on sneaking in laws which defend their actions and the people being too easily led.
