Ask a Question
So I seem to have alot of water in my bk porch I ve tryed resealing the door yet its not worked the carpet s wet as soon rains and now my walls appear damp can any1 offer any advice I wt I can do
I am certainly no DIY expert but I know you can buy sealant for bricks too. Not sure if it is already in the paint or a separate purchase. However, I would wait for really hot weather so they are completely dry before painting it on.
When you say carpet gets wet as soon as it rains, do you mean damp seeping down from bricks or coming in at floor level. If the rain is actually getting in then you must have a gap between door/floor or bricks/floor. I would then be looking at a tube of sealant, really good stuff, and going all round where floor and walls meet.
Sometimes when people have concrete right up to a building it can create problems. It's best to have a couple of inches of travel to allow the water to drain
Mctash you may need a damp course done. You need to tackle this as soon as possible as once black mould appears it's very hard to get rid of. Check behind wardrobes to make sure the moisture in your home hasn't created this secondary issue.
Have you checked the drains? The water could be coming from under the property if they are blocked.
