Prices Just Keep Going Up

In the News

Hardly a surprise in these times but still a shock when you see the McDonald's delivery (their app only) is now £4.99!

On July 3rd our local west midlands bus fares went up too 😐 I use a Monthly bus pass for £55 but when it expires it will become £60. It will also affect those in direct debit.

I wish the monthly bus pass would cover the full 30 days instead of 28.

I can think of one thing that doesn't keep going up.

The amount of money I get.

The constant price increases make it harder to compare prices too

I know it's a bit different but I had to renew my car insurance. Last year it was £272 and this year they wanted £384, not far short of a 50% rise. I held on the phone for nearly 40 minutes determined to get a better deal but they only reduced by £20.

Lynibis My HomeServe Plumbing and drainage Plus insurance in April 2020-21 cost £60 per year. April 2021-2022 cost £180. April 2022-2023 cost £243. April 2023-2024 cost is £257. I have not made any claims for 3 years. But I will pay up because their tradesmen are trustworthy whenever I have used them in the past. I did ask for a discount and didn't get one.

Lynibis it's so wrong if I don't have a care I can't get to work as our public transport where I am is rubbish and would add about 4 hours onto my day when driving takes me half the time

Jerseydrew they do everything they can to put more cars on the road, allow children to drive, bringing out out newer and better models and make transport systems expensive and badly run.

My own car is a tiny Citreon C1 my last was a Volkswagen Up with road tax of £20, the Citreon is now £165, I had the shock of my life. What with the cost of fuel, MOT and services just my C1 is over 1k per year, I dread to think what others are paying for bigger cars.

My car insurance and the house insurance have both gone up. Car went up by £3, so not too bad, the house was up by £30. I went on to the comparison websites but there wasn't anything cheaper.

As someone who doesn’t eat out a lot i was shocked to go to weatherspoons and see a bowl of chips is £4. Things are definitely increasing in price to a point it becomes unsustainable.

jms19 There is a current offer of two main meals at Morrisons for £10 with two drinks included plus you get a bonus 600 morrisons points for each £6 spent at their cafe. I recently used this offer to get 2 half chickens, chips and coleslaw meals, 2 pots of tea for £10 plus they don't mind if you refill the teapot with water to make a bit more tea out of the same tea bag. Lastly for some reason the £10 spend tracked at 1200 points. It's like they calculated the points before the £10 deal promotion. So effectively a large chicken meal and multiple hot teas for £4.40. The normal price for the meal is £7.50 on its own without a drink. I've also heard that Asda often offer half price fish and chips but I don't have any Asda's nearby with a cafe so don't know much about that promotion. There are still some amazing food deals out there. I should add I had the meal at Morrisons in Glastonbury and it was fantastic, really enjoyed it.

Yes prices are definitely going up. I haven't had a McDonald's for maybe a year now. Basic food like milk and bread is silly prices. Gregg's is another one that is too expensive now. I was shocked the last time I was there to be charged for a paper bag! I thought paper ones where free.

I was actually listening to some foreigners on the bus and they were talking about how you have to pay for everything in England even a bag to carry groceries.. I think it came as a shock for them

We have just done the weekly shop and prices are ridiculous , particularly fresh meat joints which have become totally unaffordable. Did notice that 4 pints of Milk have gone down 10p to £1.45, not that it makes much difference overall when you get to the checkout.

6 pints milk in Morrisons is DOWN 20p and my travel insurance renewal is down, which surprised me as one is now retired. @geekygamegurl I mainly buy yellow stickers and you still get the full points/offer with Morrisons Card 650 points on a cooked chicken even if it's reduced. 20% off at fish counter on Friday and 20% off steak on Saturday. Don't forget to check every Monday and activate every offer.
