Primark Anyone Else Seeing a Big Increase in Their Prices?
Ask a Question
Went into nearest Primark and was not much selection in women's night shirts and they seem to not do the £6/8 Disney t-shirts?
The Disney pj sets were think £10/12 at most last time now £15
Also anyone else notice prices different on items to the receipt?
Primark is getting really expensive now. I went into a branch of theirs today and their prices is the same as Asda. I prefer Asda over Primark. I just spent £22 in Asda today because the quality of their clothing is superior and the wall clock, I brought was dirt cheap (£3.00).
Yeah I thought the same recently. I paid £16 for a hooded blanket my son wanted. It's definitely become alot more expensive.
Our nearest primark is an hour away so we don't go often, but was there last month and I noticed the prices had increased. The prices had been slowly increasing over the years anyway but has been much more noticeable recently.
My nearest Primark has everything up by 25% and as it’s the biggest in England you would see many people there but there’s probably about 100
It used to be so cheap on primark!
Popped in localish one today and didn’t buy anything, matalan had nicer things and similar prices.
I have noticed in my local Primarks a lot more clothes in the sale than ever before. I have managed to get some real bargains. Best one was a good quality orange shirt, which I love, for £2, original £15. Very happy.
Having an online facility/click and collect all cost money to operate. customers will pick up the tab and are starting to do unfortunately
I think stores like this, when they become successful and have a good customer base, tend to go more upmarket. Instead of being content they want to entice a richer clientele thereby pushing poorer folk aside who then have to search out other cheaper stores.
I agree, prices are getting a lot more expensive and I've seen pictures of them ripping off the original price tag / placing another price tag over it which costs more - I've found that the quality has been a lot better for me recently so at least the price reflects that
Primark is owned by Associated British Foods , makers and distributers of many well known brands (including Ovaltine ,Ryvita , Mazola as well as many supermarket own brands ) . Possibly the food side of the business is really feeling the squeeze of inflation and prices are being increased on Primark stuff to alleviate that ? Effectively Primark could be subsidising the food division of ABF .
I've never shopped in Primark but surely like other shops they are faced with the cost of importing goods spiralling with many shipping firms charging more, factories charging more and the £ buying less. Then factor in increased energy and fuel costs and perhaps increases in business taxation. Some shops are slow to reflect increased costs in their pricing but others are much faster. They will all increase in price its just sporadic with regards which shops do it first and which do it last.
Ah really. I am trying to steer clear of the clothes shops right now so wasnt aware of the increases. And if i am honest i tend to buy mainly on vinted and eBay I just look for items that are new with tags. I have had some fantatsic River Island purchases that way and saved so much money.
I’ve not been to primark since before lockdown and quite honestly don’t think I’ll bother as the nearest one from me is over an hour away. I used to love primark when my kids were little many moons ago !
I went to primark and picked up a plain white tshirt. just plain, nothing on it and it was £3. I noted the pj sets were a lot more than they used to be. I don't think the quality of the items has gone up, but yes, the prices are going up.
