Gas Station Frustrations: How Do You Feel About People Shopping at the Pumps?

Ask a Question

I literally get my diesel and go. I do get annoyed with people doing a full shop and leaving their cars at the pumps. What’s your view?

What really winds me up is people that pull into to the petrol station park on a pump without buying fuel and go in the shop, even if there is plenty of other areas to park .

Mango4 This is so annoying as well. I just want to get my fuel and go and not wait behind one car while they decide what they want for lunch.

Not usually unless I’m desperate for something and don’t have time but very rarely. It’s expensive!

JLouM I agree with you, it is expensive but this doesn’t seem to stop people. I think it just convenient for them but not for others waiting.

I only buy my petrol at Tesco as its cheapest for a high quality high octane fuel by far and occasionally they have some very cheap short life items that I pick up like bread for example.

Unless I’m in a need for it or needed like a drink there and then or something then I wouldn’t. Some of the prices they charge are extortionate

If I have my son with me he likes to pick out a sweetie for himself but otherwise I just get my petrol and go. Our shop at the petrol garage is excellent, like a small supermarket and not expensive either.

No. I think the garage is way too expensive. You can drive 5 mins up the road to the supermarket and the same stuff is half the price

PayItForward It is the convenience that is stopping them from driving to a cheaper alternative. I would never buy in a garage, too expensive like you say.

eyeballkerry my husband would be the kind to buy in the garage. If he remembers we need something, he’ll buy it wherever he happens to be.

Not often I sometimes use one that's part of a supermarket and buy bits from it

If I’m off on a journey that is sort of 30 minutes or more I will get a small drink.

I always have a tin of sweets in the car. Remember the old fashioned ones.

Not really, I just fill up and leave, odd time I might bob in for some milk or bread first

I usually use a pump that I can scan my card to just pay for the petrol and go, never go into the shop if II can help it.

I’m the same usually pay at the pump also, unless we are away for the day or something and we want a snack, but then it’s just a snack and that’s it

Our local Esso garage is also a Tesco shop. So many do their shopping in there it takes ages to pay for your fuel. We tend to go the Shell garage these days because there’s no baskets so it’s just paying for your petrol.

Can’t say there is any big enough petrol station shops for people to do a full shop but can imagine it’s a nightmare when people park up at the pumps.
