Would You Quit Your Job if You Won £2 Million?

Ask a Question

If you won £2 million, would you quit your job? 🧑‍🏭

Do you love your job so much you would want to stay or you'd choose a volutary role somewhere? Or would the money need to be higher for you to quit?

Absolutely, I would quit. Then there’s a vacancy for someone else less fortunate to give employment to.

I would quit but I'd probably try my hand at some self employment ideas I've either not had the time or money to try before.

Most definitely quit, that's the main reason for entering. Days to do just what I want, when I want, if I want with no money worries.

Firstly I would get professional advice from a bank manager (not an accountant) on how to make more money. Perhaps pay myself £40,000 per year and do Ebay selling. I hate my dead end job so much I would be more than happy to quit it.

After being ill and unable to work and being frustrated when I try to go back to work but struggle with my current illnesses, then No I would still like to continue working. I feel a sense of reward and accomplishment if I am to earn for myself and provide for my household, plus if you've got a good bunch of colleagues that is a great thing in itself. It would however open up more opportunities and I may work part time rather than full time or volunteer more often for charities and my passions.

Two million doesn't go far these days, I'd likely buy a nice house, not go crazy but if I stayed around the area I am in now, it doesn't come cheap. A decent 'normal' house would be £500k-£800k probably. Then I'd do it up to how we'd like it. Maybe get myself a car. So that's nearly 1 million gone just on sorting out a life.

I guess you could put the rest in accounts and live off most of the interest.

My partner works for a lovely local family run business and he wouldn't leave them, they are like another family to him. He won't even leave to move somewhere much cheaper, which can be frustrating sometimes!

I'm not well enough to work. But the money would mean I'd be ok for the rest of my life. I'd be able to have a roof over my head. I'm always worried about been homeless I suffer with Agoraphobia so I wouldn't be able to cope with this. I'm currently in a sort of relationship so he pays most of the bills. If we weren't together I'd be homeless so it's a constant worry. I wouldn't waste the money I'd live a very simple life but would have alot less stress which would be nice.

This is a hard one as I work for my daughter. I would probably tell her to give up her business and move abroad with us.

I'd quit working and look for other opportunities to earn money with the 2 million, after a very long holiday.

I don't think I would quit my job, but I'd certainly reduce my hours and have more time spent on myself, and with friends and family.

Id keep working. Would put some in my kids accounts to see them though uni and buy them a house each in a ISA they can't have till their 18. Pay off our mortgage let our house out and buy ourselves a bigger one, and see what was left

Yeah. Then I would move out of this absolute shambles of a country and never come back. Why would anyone work a regular job if they don't need the income? The whole system of education and then labour from early childhood until retirement age when your body is tired and unable to do the things you once did - is, frankly, horrible. You only get one life, and you spend most of it in the system.

No I wouldn't quit my job. I would use the money to pay off my mortgage and give my brother in law a deposit on a house. Then I would save the rest for my sons future. 2 million would be nice, but I would still work.

If you'd budget, save, and invest carefully then you'd not have to worry about a monotonous job ever again.

This guy literally burned a million dollars (CAD) so that his ex-wife wouldn't get it:

Well, he didn't record it to have evidence so there's only his word that he did it, but since there's no proof it's possible he buried it somewhere. lol

Yes but I would only quit because I would use the money to buy a business or start a business then I would be sorted hopefully for the rest of my working life and when I retired I would have something to leave for my kids. I recently returned to work after being a stay at home mum for almost 6 years and the main reason I went back is because my mental health declined after my youngest went to school and I was home alone all day. My partner works and was willing to take on extra hours if I wanted to stay home but I needed to be out doing something and I didn’t want all the responsibility of paying the bills to fall on him plus we would hardly see each other

I would carry on working for my mental health, interaction, getting out of the house. The 2 millionan I'd use to buy both my boys their own homes, that would be the number one reason to win it. Secondly I'd have a few well earned holidays and I'd go private with health insurance for all my family

Two million is a good chunk of cash but I'd still work but I'd have the security behind me to have financial peace of mind. I'd buy property for family but for them to live in rent/mortgage free but I'd own the property. Setup trust funds for my boys so after my day the government can't get their greedy hands on money they should have no right to anyways.
